Local Love: Rebecca Prenevost – Author of the Mom Walks series

Today we are sharing our LOCAL LOVE for author Rebecca Prenevost and her Mom Walks series.

“I never in a million years thought I’d be a writer. I spent nearly 20 years working in data, analytics, and research. It’s never too late to learn something new or shift careers.”

Mom Walks - Local Love

Tell us all about you! What you do and where your passions lie?

I’m a local MN mom of two tween daughters and the author of Mom Walks, which is a 4-book women’s fiction series that follows a mom and her two best mom friends as they navigate the craziness of parenting tweens and what they learn about themselves along the way.

Tell us all about how the Mom Walks series came to be.

A few years ago, I was looking for more lighthearted books with relatable storylines about motherhood. I had trouble finding what I was looking for, so I tried writing one, and I had an absolute blast.

What do you love about the Twin Cities area?

I love being active outside, and the Twin Cities has so many great options for that. The park systems, bike trails, and lakes are all phenomenal.

What is the best way for our TCMC community to support your business?

If you’re interested in light and heart-warming stories about mother-daughter relationships, mom friends, and parenting tweens, I’d love it if you’d check out my books. You can purchase them locally at Magers & Quinn Booksellers in Minneapolis, MN or you can order them online from any of the major book retailers.

Now let’s talk about your role as a mother and friend. How do you prioritize friendships and connections with women?

I love, love, love going on long walks with my mom friends, so I try to do that regularly. I also feel very lucky that my daughters’ basketball and volleyball teammates have some wonderful moms to hang out with when we are spending our weekends in the gym watching our kids’ tournaments.

Being a mom is no easy task in and of itself. How do you relax and take care of you?

I enjoy being active outside and watching girls or women’s basketball.

What’s been your greatest joy in motherhood?

Watching my daughters love and support each other.

How do you hope your lives influence and/or inspire other women?

I never in a million years thought I’d be a writer. I spent nearly 20 years working in data, analytics, and research. It’s never too late to learn something new or shift careers.

Rebecca’s Local Loves:

Date Night Restaurant: Birchs on the Lake
Local Boutique: I love independent book stores, especially Magers and Quinn in Minneapolis, MN since they are kind enough to carry my books.
Local Coffee Shop: I don’t frequent coffee shops often, but my favorite coffee to make at home is Peace Coffee. Peace Coffee is a MN-based company that produces organic, fair trade coffee. You can buy it online or in many Twin Cities grocery stores.
Locally based business: Ginger P. Designs is located in Janesville, MN and creates the most amazing and fun paper and stationary products. Gina is not only the founder of the business, but she is also my cousin, so I was able to convince her to design all of my book covers. You can find all her products at www.gingerpdesigns.com.
Locally based non-profit organization: Our community has a nonprofit foundation that helps support the public schools.

To learn more about Rebecca and you can find her on both on Instagram and Facebook.
We love having the opportunity to share the women behind Twin Cities businesses and organizations! If you would like to recommend another local business you think should be featured in our Local Love series, please email us at info@twincitiesmom.com.
