Local Love: Kobi Co.

Today we are sharing our LOCAL LOVE for Kobi Co. and it’s Co-Founders -Tasha Harris and Kobi Gregory!

“For me candles are mood-makers, like music. No matter the day you’re having, a song can be the reset button you need to switch the energy and set the vibe. Which is why each of my candles come with their own curated playlist. I strive to use my passion for self-care to uplift myself, my loved ones, my community, and to make dope products.”

Tell us all about you! What you do and where your passions lie?

We are a mother/daughter generational team who co-founded Kobi Co. Kobi recently graduated from DeLasalle High school and is currently taking a gap year to focus on self-care and growing Kobi Co. Tasha graduated from Roosevelt, U of MN and Saint Mary’s University. We both enjoy all things self-care (as defined by us). We both love music and dancing. Family and friends are equally as important – we consider our friends to be “framily.” We are born and raised in Minneapolis. We love our city and its special vibe.

Tell us all about Kobi Co.

Hi I’m Kobi. I started Kobi Co. as a way to fund my college dreams. I wanted to find a way to pay for college tours and support myself through school while promoting the importance of self-care and make it smell good.
For me candles are mood-makers, like music. No matter the day you’re having, a song can be the reset button you need to switch the energy and set the vibe. Which is why each of my candles come with their own curated playlist. I strive to use my passion for self-care to uplift myself, my loved ones, my community, and to make dope products.
As I grow this business and continue to support myself, I also plan to use Kobi Co. as a means to uplift other Black women seeking an education. I recently created a small scholarship to help them along the way. In 2021, my mom, Tasha, formally joined the company full-time to contribute her extensive business background.

What do you love about the Twin Cities area? Why is it the perfect place for your business?

We love the Twin Cities because of the music scene. There are so many amazing great musicians that helped and continue to help create the sound track for the Twin Cities and give us our own special vibe. It’s the perfect place for our business because our city is filled with supporters who love us wholeheartedly.

What is the best way for our TCMC community to support your business?

Share your love for our products on social media. Visit us at The Dayton’s project. Order online. Come see us at the summer Farmer’s Markets in the city!

Owning a business can be an overwhelming task that leave little room for personal time. How do you prioritize friendships and connections with women?

We consider our friends as “framily.” It’s a process but once you make it your “framily” for life and there isn’t anything we wouldn’t do for our “framily.”

Being a mom is no easy task in and of itself. How do you relax and take care of you?

Nope, being a mom is not easy – especially when you work with your child (LOL). I relax and take care of myself in small increments each day. I indulge in a long hot bath (with one of our bath soaks and bath bombs) surrounded by our candles (one of the perks of owning a candle company). I like to burn #Chillaxin because the curated playlist that comes with it induces a chill vibe.

What’s been your greatest joy in motherhood?

Hearing other people tell me how awesome, kind, and caring my children are.

How do you hope your lives influence and/or inspire other women?

We took a risk starting Kobi Co. We hope to inspire other women to follow their passion.
