About a year ago, I brought you this article sharing with you the return of the flare jean. Based on the comments, we agreed that this was a welcome style (Hey skinny jeans, we’re not exclusive with you!)… and some of you said you never stopped wearing your flare jeans. That’s great!
Well I have a new style update for you – and fret not, the flare jean is still rocking on the style front – however, this trend is headed north. Literally. I’m talking about sleeves. Sleeves? The part of my shirt that covers my arms that I never think about? Yes, those sleeves. There is a new style in fashion that is especially focused on your sleeves. Strange? Maybe. But how else will style gurus, fashion bloggers, and apparel designers keep our attention? Instead of your standard sleeve that basically fits your arm the same way the whole way down, we are getting creative with this region of the shirt – probably an aspect of your clothing you have not put too much time thinking about in the past.
Before I get too far ahead of myself, I have made a simple pro/con list to help you sort out your opinion.
Some downfalls of the flare sleeve:
- It can be very difficult to wash your hands in said trend. Those sleeves do not roll up.
- When serving yourself at a buffet, beware of your enlarged sleeves. No one likes a sleeve dangled in their food.
Some upsides of the flare sleeve:
- It is adorable.
- It’s an easy way to add an interesting aspect to a rather simple outfit.
- It’s extra room for your kid to wipe their snotty nose on your shirt – aka more square footage to wipe before you need to claim this shirt as destined for the wash. (Gross? Yes. But I cannot do laundry every time my son’s nose makes contact with my shirt. I now realize my friends and family will withhold all future hugging to avoid said snot residue.)
So have I convinced you to try it out? Here are some options I’m checking out!
