Friends, the fall season will soon be upon us and that means my favorite fashion season of the year is here. There is something special about the fall season – we say goodbye to shorts, flip flops, tank tops, and all the items associated with summer, and welcome the beauty of layered outfitting.
Sidenote: I always remember going back-to- school shopping as a kid/young adult and being so excited to wear my new fall clothes. The problem was waiting for true cold weather. I’m not a patient person so I would sit in school with my amazing new fall sweater and sweat because it was still 85 degrees outside. #dumb
Anyway, I want to share a couple of my favorite transitional items that are not only trendy, but super practical this season. And feel free to use the “practical” excuse to shop – it usually works for me 🙂
The cold shoulder trend. Before talking about this trend, it must be said that a man must have named this style. I can imagine trend creators sitting in a room talking about new styles, and they came up with the “cold shoulder” style and thought, what should we call this? A guy chimes in, “Uh…her shoulders look cold…how about ‘cold shoulder’?” Anyway, this is a trend that has been around for at least a year and it’s everywhere! I like it because it comes in many forms. You can wear a cold shoulder dress, top or sweater. You can have extreme cold shoulder (frozen shoulder?) or just a little hint of shoulder (chilled shoulder?). Make it your own. This trend is everywhere right now and I don’t see it going away anytime soon. If you haven’t jumped on this trend, give it a shot! Try a simple t-shirt with cold shoulders for an easy entry to this style.
The bomber jacket. This is a trend I am super excited for this fall – and bomber jackets are everywhere! If you aren’t familiar with what a bomber jacket is, here are a few examples of some that I’m eyeing right now (one, two, three, four). I’m most excited about this trend because it provides a really easy laying piece that you can throw on and off. You can get one that is super basic or one with a lot of bells and whistles (hopefully not literally…but you never know).
In my pictures, I am wearing this cold shoulder top and this bomber jacket.
I raise my cup of coffee and cheers you to an amazing fall season. Are you excited for fall? What fall trends you are excited for?
