5 U-Pick Flower Farms Near the Twin Cities

There is nothing quite like a fresh-cut bouquet of flowers to brighten up your home. Even better, buzzing around the fields like a bumblebee and cutting the flowers yourself. While flower growing can be finicky, some local Minnesota farms offer opportunities for you to cut your own flowers and bring them home, the next best thing to having your own backyard garden. Many of these farms will take you for a drive, but we think it’s worth the effort, especially when you find a peaceful field of flowers to walk through. While most are later summer blooms, some are early bloomers and open very soon so see what they have to offer!

This farm is a drive from the cities but we think it’s worth it. This flower U-pick is open July through September, Monday through Saturday, during the hours of “Fun-Up to Fun-Down” as they like to say. Enjoy the beauty of the farm while you choose from thousands of flowers blooming all season long! They also provide instructions for cutting and care, scissors, containers, and water ready for you. Check out one of their flower arranging classes. Come back for photos in the field. Sunflower season is especially popular.

{Peonies Only in June} This mother-daughter u-pick flower farm started out of necessity. In 2017, when the Hawkins family purchased their home with a large lot, they discovered the land included 175 peony plants. They decided to share the love and opened up their own flower farm, exclusive to the two-week time of year, usually in early June when peonies are in bloom. Bring your own bucket and shears and enjoy the peaceful farm cutting your own bouquet.
