It’s Valentines Day

It’s Valentines Day | Twin Cities Mom Collective

It’s February 14th friends! This day either makes you smile and wanna walk around and hug everyone. Or you are on the other side of the spectrum and you would just rather not be a part of this love stuff.

I want to send some encouragement to all. We don’t have to make today a grand day with gifts and fancy dinners. But can instead turn this into a day that reminds us to treat those around us with kindness, love and appreciation.

I love Valentine’s Day not because of presents, decorations or really good food. I just truly enjoy how this day can make people feel. It’s an opportunity.

Sometimes this day, or any holiday for that matter, can make me sad or happy depending on my mood or life circumstances. But what I try to remind myself is it’s not just about me… it’s also about those around me.

We have a choice on days like today to choose to make those around us happy. With compliments and kind words. With hugs and kisses. Or even simple notes to say “I love you.”

Growing up we were not blessed with lots of money. However my mother always made us feel very special on holidays and birthdays. She would give us big hugs while saying something so special and kind to us. She’d make our favorite meals, bake a treat, or use balloons to decorate the house. Just simple things that didn’t cost her much money, or any money at all. She gave me the gift of memories and things that I do now with my own children.

So my hope for you is to enjoy today and remember to keep things simple. Spread joy and love to those around you. Treat the people you know – and those you don’t know – with respect and love. It’s a beautiful day to give someone a compliment or a HUG!!!

Happy Valentines Day!!!

Lots of Love,

Janna
