Funkytown is…Midtown Global Market

I love that my kids embrace city living. The Twin Cities truly has so much to offer, and each city is unique in its own right. From learning about the local history of the flour industry at a Downtown museum to strolling the chain of lakes in hipster Uptown to noshing on some infamous ‘Wally blues’ pancakes at a tiny Dinkytown diner, Minneapolis has lots of cool areas that we love to frequent.

So it didn’t surprise me one day when my youngest son asked me “Mom, does Minneapolis have a Funkytown?”

“Sorry buddy, there is no Funkytown here.”  Well, at least not an official one..

There is however Midtown Global Market and that’s pretty much the same thing.

The MGM is an international themed public market with a cheery, funky vibe. Nowhere else can you travel the world without actually leaving. Here you can go from Latin America to Africa to the Middle East + get a big ol’ American Burger and apple pie, all under one roof. Twelve members of our family recently visited MGM and with all the different options for dining and shopping, we each came away with our own unique experience.

There is art

Downtown, Dinkytown, Uptown, Funkytown – they’re all great. And who needs a Chinatown when you can get that and more at the Midtown Global Market!
