Winning the Lottery {When You’re a Mom}

Winning the Lottery {When You're a Mom} | Twin Cities Moms Blog

I heard some people won a lot of money in the lottery. Like billions of dollars all together, which is simply absurd and pretty unimaginable. (Not that I wouldn’t accept it if I actually bought a ticket and won!) Now I have no real idea what I would do if that money magically became mine, but I do know what feels like winning the lottery when you’re a mom, and it has little to do with actual dollars.

Here are a few things that would give me pause and make me think I’d just struck it big. And if they all happened in the same day, save my soul. Honestly, any one of these happening at any given time would put a giant smile on my face and make me feel like the luckiest person in the world:

  1. Eating a meal as a family in an open restaurant at a generally accepted meal time with ZERO meltdowns, threats or bribes.
  2. Hitting all green lights on the drive home from work while your kids are in the backseat.
  3. Kids in their own beds and asleep by 8pm. Then not waking up again until 8am the next morning, still in their own beds. On a weekend. WINNING!
  4. Enjoying a full cup of hot coffee while sitting down in silence.
  5. Grandparents who take your kids overnight once a month and who never need to check in about anything. FREEDOM!
  6. Everyone leaving the house in their own clothes that they put on themselves without being told.
  7. When the vomit hits the floor instead of your face. BAM!
  8. Toddlers and puppies who potty train themselves.
  9. When your best friend texts you that she’s coming over after work, just to pour you a drink after your kids are in bed.
  10. Relaxing in a bubbly, candlelit bath complete with a glass of wine and a riveting book. JACKPOT!
