What To Wear This Fall

What To Wear This Fall | Twin Cities Moms Blog

It’s starting to feel like fall, and wherever we go, there is fall inspired items out. As we see them, it begins to spark the ideas of change.

I personally LOVE this time of year. I enjoy seeing the fall colors, decor, fashions and hair styles that are coming. It gives me joy to see how I can take these ideas and inspiration and bring them to life in my world.

The beauty of fashion today is there are so many looks and styles to fit all of our needs. Examples, maybe you have always enjoyed have a more earthy look (Birkenstocks, kimonos, paisley prints, floral, wide leg jeans) or you are more the athletic style (leggings, sneakers, zip ups, loose sweatshirts). Whatever you enjoy, the fashion experts have designed looks to accommodate us all no matter your size or shape.

I looked through magazines, shops and social media to bring you some ideas to help inspire you for this new season coming up. I am a firm believer that you don’t have to spend a lot of money on clothes. But I do believe finding your style and dressing for your body type is a great way to feel confident and to feel good.

What’s new?

Color: Rich and bold is the fall look. Avocado, mustard, blues, brick red, peachy pink, creme, chocolate brown, grays, and camel tones

Prints: (don’t be scared) Leopard, Cheetah, snakeskin, floral, tweed or pretty much any print is cool

Shoes: Ankle boots, knee high boots, pointy flats, and sneakers

Tops: Flannel, vests, oversize cardigans, stripes, graphic tees, denim, faux leather jackets, trench coats, prints, bralettes, and utility jackets in any color

Bottoms: black jeans, gray jeans, distressed jeans, mini skirts, corduroy, maxi skirts, skinny jeans, leggings, joggers, wide leg pants, rompers, and maxi dresses. If you’re feeling trendy, rock the bell bottoms.

Accessories: Layering necklaces, rings, scarves of any kind, hats, and structured handbags

Hair Style: Lob (yes, the long bob is back again). It’s loved because you still have length and you get lots of volume, long layers with the length being blunt. Chin length blunt bobs are great if you have always wanted bangs. This is the time of the year to do it. Once fall is here and the humidity is gone, it’s a great time to try something new. Plus, you have time to grow out your hair again before summer comes. Messy hair with soft waves is always popular and easy. Ponytails and head scarves are still cool too. Rich and warm blonde tones, balayage is still great on blondes and brunettes. Browns with hints of copper and golden tones. Coffee browns with soft beige highlights.

Ok mamas, I have set you up with a fun list of all the fall colors, trends and hairstyles. Go through your wardrobe and talk with your hair stylist. See what you have and what you can reinvent. Ask a friend if she would want to do a clothes swap. Something that she maybe done with could be your new favorite shirt.  Play with your prints, mix them together don’t be afraid.
