You Absolutely Deserve a Massage

We’re kicking off 2016 with a brand new partnership with Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa in Maple Grove. To get the new year started off on the right foot for our contributor, Lauren, they treated her to an hour-long facial and massage! Read below about her experience, and find a special offer – just for readers of Twin Cities Mom’s Blog!

We’ve made it through the holidays and are now knocking at the 2016’s door. Are you like me? Do you tolerate the colder temps a bit more when festive holiday merriment surrounds you? I am happy-happy, joy-joy on December 31, as I cheers my way into each new year. And then that first week of January hits us and I am looking for any opportunity to remind me that spring is near. My skin itches. My cuticles are cracking. My lips are chapped. Shoveling has wreaked absolute havoc on my back. If money wasn’t an issue, you’d find me at the spa whenever possible; hydrating, moisturizing, and getting all my pains rubbed away. But this is real life. Daycare doesn’t pay for itself (nor do fertility treatments), and feeding our families all organic makes you almost need to take out a second mortgage. Who has money for pampering? Better yet, who has the time?

You deserve some much needed YOU time and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. In fact it’s actually, really quite affordable. And with hours well into the evening, there’s more time too! Do you believe me? Hold onto your winter hats, because I have news for you!

I was recently given the opportunity to try out a newly opened spa in Maple Grove. Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa opened their doors this past November, and they offered me a luxurious sample of their heavenly services. After a rough month, my mind, body and soul needed some pampering. I couldn’t say yes fast enough.

The first thing I noticed when I arrived was the warm and inviting atmosphere. Believe it or not, I’ve had massages before where I just didn’t feel welcomed. How is that even possible? That’s definitely not the case at Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa. The ladies at the front desk were cheerful, and so accommodating to this first timer. I was visibly nervous, as I had never had a facial before. I admitted as much, and was quickly consoled and told I have very little to worry about.

They were right. Shortly after filling out some brief paperwork on my health and skin history, I was brought back to a room with Shelly. I couldn’t have asked for a better esthetician to provide me with my very first facial experience. She’s definitely on my Christmas card list for next year. Shelly talked me through everything she was doing as she did it. She made it clear that this was my time to relax, and wasn’t there to talk my ear off or talk about her. My nervousness made me a bit chattier than usual (OK, I am always chatty) but she calmed me into zen like state like some face massaging goddess. She was a delight to work with, and even made those extractions I had been warned about, feel like a breeze.

Seriously. I wanted to tell her she could keep going at them if that meant I could stay in that warm bed a bit longer. But alas, all good things must come to an end. My facial was over, and I slipped out of the heated bed and into a warm robe and pair of slippers (they even had size 11s for these skis!). Shelly gathered all my things and I was then lead to another area where I would soon receive (Hallelujah chorus plays) my very first hot stone massage. I was no longer nervous and chatty. I was a relaxed wet noodle, and couldn’t wait for the last hour of my pampering to continue. It was there that I met Nicole, and she helped me get settled onto the bed. Again, like Shelly, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. It was evident from the minute I walked in, and further confirmed throughout my time there, that no matter who you encounter while at Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, you are treated with kindness, expertise and care.

I drank the Kool-Aid, guys. My next appointment is in a few weeks.
