It’s that time of year when we all choose sides. Real vs fake; Christmas tree debate. Growing up, going to the Christmas tree farm was always part of the holiday experience. Living in Minnesota means that we have so many Christmas tree farms to choose from. They are usually a short drive out of the city but always one near you. The drive out of town provides a great time to enjoy Christmas music in the car or pop in a holiday classic for the kids to watch while you enjoy a quiet and scenic drive.

Krueger’s Christmas Tree Farm | Lake Elmo

If you’re looking on the East side of St Paul, take a little drive out to Lake Elmo. Krueger’s Christmas Tree Farm is celebrating its 70th year providing Christmas trees in this picturesque spot nestled next to a small lake and postcard-worthy white farmhouse with green pine tree shutters. This place screams Hallmark movie and does not disappoint. A seat around a roaring fire, sipping complimentary cider while you wait for your tree to be shaken, wrapped, and placed on your car. Krueger’s now requires reservations ensuring quality experience and responsible farming. You also receive a free ornament every year with your purchase!

 


 

Hansen Tree Farm | Ramsey

This farm has been around since 1952, supplying gorgeous Christmas trees to families in the Twin Cities. Five generations have run this farm and the website gives a beautiful history of this family and the farm. No reservations are required here and only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They offer hayrides, hot chocolate, cider, and the Northwoods gift shop for more holiday décor.

Our Farm Christmas Trees | Oak Grove

Location: 4271 210th Ave NW, Oak Grove, MN 55303

Our Farm Christmas Trees is located in Oak Grove, MN, just a short drive from Anoka. This family-owned Christmas tree farm is open 7 days a week and offers pre-cut and cut-your-own trees. Let the kids enjoy their complimentary hot chocolate while taking part in the scavenger hunt. Create lasting memories while you wander through rows of meticulously cultivated trees and friendly staff to assist.

 


Rum River and Hampton Hills Tree Farm | Oak Grove & Randolph

Rum River and Hampton Hills Tree Farm in Hampton, MN is just south of the metro and has been in the Christmas tree business for over 50 years. They are open 7 days a week but, on the weekends, they offer hayrides, pony rides, petting animals, coloring books, candy canes, and free visits with Santa! Food trucks on the weekends make this Christmas tree farm a fun day trip to enjoy all things Christmas.

Stacy Tree Farm in Stacy, MN has been growing Christmas trees since the 70’s and is a nice spot for those on the north end of the Twin Cities. Maybe incorporate this as a stop on your way home from Bentleyville in Duluth! Conveniently located right off 35, this staple in the area is the perfect place to pick up your Christmas tree and enjoy the fresh pine air.
