Top 5 Podcasts That’ll Change the Way You Live

I commute a lot. Most of my friends think we’re crazy for how far out we live from where we work. But the truth is, I don’t mind it at all. I actually kind of enjoy it. It gives me “me” time. It’s my time to think, dream and listen.

Listening to podcasts helps me set my attitude for the day – what better way to start my day! I always leave my car feeling a little more motivated after having listened to a good podcast.

Think about all the times when you’re cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, working out, cleaning the house and driving. It’s the perfect time to shut off the other noise whether it’s the TV or the voices in our heads and actually do something that makes us a little better.

My co-worker, Tim, got me into podcasts. He is always so excited at work about the latest thing he learned and is constantly sharing with me his knowledge. He listens to a ton of podcasts and started a podcast himself. So when I asked him to give me a couple to educate myself from I got more than just that. Now I’m hooked.

There isn’t a topic out there that you can’t find on a podcast. Whether it’s looking for parenting tips, relationship advice, social media marketing strategies, you’ll be sure to find what you’re looking for. And  if not, new podcasts are added to iTunes daily.

Are you wondering what these podcasts even are? Podcasts are basically audio (and sometimes video) of interviews, seminars, conversations and much more. They are incredible and convenient learning tools.

So here are my top 5 podcasts that have changed the way I live and make me think differently.

1. Ask Garyvee

This guy is my absolute favorite. His book, Crush It, was one of the first books I read that got me thinking differently of how the work place is changing. And ultimately what pushed me to live my dream at construction2style.

This podcast talks about cashing in on your passion and make a living by doing what you love. If you have any questions you can use the hashtag #AskGaryVee on Twitter or Instagram and he’ll be responding.

Gary Vaynerchuk is the man behind this podcast. He builds businesses. Fresh out of college, he took his family wine business and grew it from a $3M to a $60M business in just five years. He now runs a digital agency and is a venture capitalist for places like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Uber and Birchbox.

2. Seanwes

Seanwes is another great podcast with Sean McCabe and Ben Toalson. This is a weekly podcast that provides insights on creativity and business. Like Gary, this podcast is all about making a living with your passion. From products and marketing to professionalism and clients, you’ll get answers to the hard-hitting questions. There hasn’t been an episode that I’ve listened to without some sort of value I could apply to my business.

3. Manic Mommies
This is a great podcast for working moms. If you’re a working mom trying to juggle it all with your kids, clients, partner, and all of the other crazy things life throws at us, this is a great podcast for you. This podcast is hosted by a couple working moms, Erin and Kristin, and focuses on balancing “doing it all.”

4. The Longest Shortest Time

This podcast was a great one that I listened to within the early stages of parenthood. Within those sleepless nights and moments of weakness, this podcast was sometimes what got me through. After one year of Greyson still not sleeping through the night, I thought it was never going to end. The Longest Shortest Time is ideal in the early stages of parenthood when it feels like the sleepless nights and humbling moments will never end. Hillary Frank started this podcast to help new parents through this first few painful months or like me, year. It’s a great reminder to know us moms aren’t alone out there, and we’re all here to help one another out.

5. The Unmistakable Creative

Do you guys read Renegade Mothering by Janelle Hatchet? She is a hilarious mommy blogger. If not, get ready to pee your pants a little or cry a lot. She has been to the lowest of lows, in and out of rehab, kids taken away – you name it. She has now risen above and writes a successful blog, laying it all out there straight. I was introduced to this podcast by listening to Janelle’s interview here, The Fatal Flaw of Being Human.

This podcast is a hub of entrepreneurial guests that include psychologists, cartoonists, mommies, and even bank robbers. There is a wide variety of education on this podcast.
