From My Favorite Corner: The Heart of a Mom

from the owner's desk (3)

Have you checked out our newest, regular series, written by our Founder?

My desk is my new favorite corner of our home. It’s my little haven, a place of rest that is personalized just for me, and no one else. It’s also the place I get to dig into our writer’s articles, do a little dreaming for TCMB events and even a little dreaming for myself. Our writers truly put a lot into their articles and we want to be sure you get a chance to see them more often!

Each Sunday, I’ll be sharing a few thoughts and a handful of articles on a specific theme. We’ve had well over 40 writers total in our 2+ years in action and the wisdom, knowledge and tips they’ve shared is wide! This Mother’s Day, I hope to encourage your Mama heart.

This job is not for the faint of heart. It’s not for the weak, its challenges present themselves daily. Sometimes the simplest things can take you down, and not because you are weak, because weak is not who you are. You are strong, mama, even on the days it doesn’t feel like it. Even on the days when it’s that seemingly small act that pushes you over the edge: the cheerios spilling, that last tantrum, that teenage look your seven-year-old gave you. Those little moments feel so overwhelming because this is a hard gig. One none of us could have been prepared for.

Even on the days you don’t believe it, you were made for this. And even if you feel you weren’t made for it, you’ve made yourself into it. You are a mother, whether you are holding your child now, lost your sweet baby before you could meet her, or holding your little ones in your heart waiting for them. Whether you carried them in your belly, or carried them to the car after meeting them face to face for the first time, or fostered them for three short months when no one could. You are a mother, and that title holds meaning.

Whatever you do this Mother’s Day, don’t you dare minimize the heart you wear on your sleeve daily. You are a mother, you have a Mother’s Heart and you deserve the recognition for all of the love that you hold within it. Happiest Mother’s Day to you. Yes, you absolutely deserve it.
