Sunflower Fields to Visit Near the Twin Cities

Visiting a sunflower field is something that we look forward to each summer. And as the sunflower season approaches in Minnesota, we have compiled the sunflowers fields where you can take your family to enjoy these gems of nature. All of these are within driving distance of the Twin Cities metro area – and the approximate distance is calculated based on drive time from downtown Minneapolis).

We are lucky to have so many sunflower fields around the Twin Cities to visit this summer!

SUNFLOWER FIELDS TO VISIT AROUND THE TWIN CITIES

Andover Sunflower Field

  • Located at 14861 Prairie Rd NW Andover, MN 55304
  • Andover Sunflower has 3 acres of gorgeous sunflowers. The venue is located in the NW Minneapolis suburbs. It is the closest sunflower field to the Twin Cities metro area. Admission and parking are both FREE. Donations are encouraged to help the owners continue to cover the expenses of the field.
  • Prairie land and tall pines flank the property and there is an abundance of wildlife. Winding trails are cut through the fields and over 30 unique props are placed, making it an ideal location for photo opportunities. Children and adults alike love exploring the field and discovering new props
  • Pets are not only allowed in the field; they are encouraged! There are several pet-friendly props, including a memorial where pets can be remembered.
  • The field opens on Friday, September 8. Field hours are 5:30 am-8:30 pm, 7 days a week.

 


Brand Farms  (25 Minutes from the Twin Cities)

  • 18605 Biscayne Ave, Farmington, MN 55024
  • Brand Farms is known for its wide variety of crops, including sunflowers, pumpkins, and various vegetables, providing a diverse agricultural experience for visitors.
  • The sunflowers at Brand Farms usually bloom from mid-August to early September, offering a stunning display of vibrant yellow flowers during this peak season.
  • The farm features a store where visitors can purchase fresh produce, homemade goods, and seasonal items, ensuring that guests can take a piece of the farm experience home with them.

 


Waldoch Farm – Joyer Adventure Farm (25 minutes from Minneapolis)

  • 8174 Lake Dr, Lino Lakes, MN
  • Open with Joyer Adventure Farm 10:00 am – 5:00 pm with timed ticketing.
  • They have planned for the sunflower field to start blooming in early August for their Early Sunflower Bloom Days. With areas of full Sunflower Bloom around the second week of August and finishing in mid-September. The Flower Field is open with Joyer Adventure Farm admission.

 


Afton Apple Orchard (Approx 35 Mins from Twin Cities)

  • The sunflower fields at Afton Apple Orchard typically bloom in late summer, around mid-August to early September, offering vibrant and picturesque views during this period.
  • In addition to admiring and taking photos in the sunflower fields, visitors can enjoy various activities such as apple picking, corn mazes, and hayrides, making it a fun destination for families and individuals alike.
  • The expansive sunflower fields provide excellent opportunities for photography, with designated areas for visitors to capture the beauty of the sunflowers against the scenic backdrop of the orchard.

 


Fresh Acres (40 minutes from the Twin Cities)

  • roughly a 40-minute drive northwest of the Twin Cities, making it a convenient destination for a day trip to explore their agricultural offerings.
  • Bring your own clippers to cut the stems of your choice. Contact Fresh Acres to book your yoga classes and other private events!

  • The sunflower field at Fresh Acres typically blooms in late summer, from mid-August to early September.

 


Green Barn Garden Center (45 minutes from Minneapolis)

  • 26501 MN-65, Isanti, MN
  • There will be several crops blooming throughout August. Each crop blooms for about a week to 10 days. Food trucks are scheduled Fridays-Sundays in August starting August 5th.

 


 

Treasured Haven Farm (60 minutes from Minneapolis)

  • Treasured Haven Farm should open their Sunflower Days this year in the beginning of August. The goal is to provide you and your family with a safe, genuine farm experience to enjoy the successive blooming sunflower fields and the woodland trails of this century family farm.
  • This year the farm will have additional farm animals – lambs and baby pigs especially for farm visitors to enjoy. Nothing like watching baby animals playing to bring smiles to little faces!
  • Treasured Haven will be updating the farm website and Facebook with more details and updates as they become available.

 


Fish Sunflowers

  • Fish Sunflowers operates multiple sunflower fields across Minnesota, with popular locations near the Twin Cities, making it accessible for Minnesota residents all over the state
  • The sunflower fields managed by Fish Sunflowers are open to the public for free, offering a cost-effective and beautiful way to experience the lovely sunflower fields
  • The sunflower fields typically bloom from mid-August to early September

 

When to see Sunflowers in MN

Sunflowers often start in late July, through mid-September. Once they bloom they often last about 10 days. Most fields will be planted at different times to ensure there is always something blooming. It varies by the farm.

You forgot Andover Sunflower Field (35 minutes from Minneapolis). It is FREE and pet-friendly. The field opens September 8.
