5 Fun Events to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the Twin Cities (with kids!)

March is finally here and has us seeing green everywhere we look (except outside, of course). Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as a family at one of these great Metro-area kid-friendly events!

Minneapolis St. Patrick’s Day Parade | Friday, March 17th, Columbia Heights

The Minneapolis St. Patrick’s Day Association welcomes your family in safely celebrating St. Patrick’s Day 2023 at their 55th annual parade, held in Columbia Heights, MN! The parade starts at 40th Ave NE and Van Buren St NE and will continue down 40th Ave NE then turn onto 5th St NE and ends at Mill St NE at Murzyn Hall.

 


Blarney Blast After Party | Friday, March 17th, Murzyn Hall – Columbia Heights

Blarney Blast is Immediately following the Minneapolis St. Patrick’s Day parade (approx 7:30 PM). It will feature Irish dancers, live music, Irish food, and hotdogs for kids! There will also be a cash bar sponsored by the Columbia Heights Lions Club. Entry for this event is $10 for ages 12 and up, $5 for ages 6-11, and free for 5 and under.

St. Patrick’s Day at Can Can Wonderland | Friday, March 17th, 11 AM – 9 PM

A great family-friendly option for an all-ages get-together at Can Can Wonderland on St. Patrick’s Day. Live Irish Music and merriment all day for all ages 11 am to 9 pm. (After 9 pm it’s bedtime for the young ones and it’s 21+ adults only to finish out the night.) Specialty food and drinks, plenty of beer, Guinness & Harp, come one, come all — Irish or not.

6:00 pm to 12:30 am Live Music by An Cuan Irish Music Duo on the Red Room stage

6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Face painting, glitter hair (or leprechaun glitter beards) by Sparkle Fox on the Boardwalk

Ride the Shamrock Train | Saturday, March 18th, Minnesota Transportation Museum

Families can enjoy a 15-minute train ride, storytelling, green snacks, and more at the Minnesota Transportation Museum’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the Jackson Street Roundhouse! Train rides are included in the price of admission (Free – $13).  Don’t forget to wear green!

An Irish Day of Dance | Sunday, March 19th, Landmark Center

March 19, 11 am – 5 pm: An Irish Day of Dance ($7-$9)

The Irish Arts Minnesota will return in person for a 33rd year of partnership with Landmark Center. Experience all things Irish at two events featuring Celtic music, dancing, and authentic vendors.
