Sparrow Studios of Eagan

The following is a sponsored post from Sparrow  Studios.  They offered two free classes, Beth went to Buti and Suzanne attended Candlelight Yoga. This is a review of our experience.

Suzanne’s Story:
I’m not an official ‘Yogi” but I sure wear the pants.  I’m also one of those girls who hibernates in the winter. You know, dinner is done, kitchen is cleaned, and it’s been dark for hours.  I DARE you to peel me off of my couch because my favorite “Housewives” show is coming on!  Yes, I am one of those girls, but I may have to change a few priorities.  It was one of those nights that the weather screamed “DON’T go work out”.  Snow was coming down and so were the temps, and a big part of me wanted to plant it on the couch. However, I had the chance to check out Sparrow Studios, I had heard lots of good things and I wanted to experience it first-hand and share that info with Ya’ll.

Sparrow is a nice place to walk into after a stressful day, and I had just had one at work and while making dinner for the kiddos. But the thing that made this place perfect on a winter evening was the fact that the room that they held the class in was a balmy 92 degrees.  I hadn’t been able to peel off layers in months and I gladly did!  I had signed up easily online for the candlelight yoga class at 7:30 pm.

A breeze of a class in any way, I got in a work out, but yoga has always been my kind of workout and with the temperature in the room and the different poses we did, I was able to build up a good sweat.  The instructor was so kind and not intimidating, however, I did want her limber little yoga body!  You may laugh at this but she made me tear up a bit at the beginning.  She was talking in a calming voice about where my mind should be and taking time for myself and to put away the negative of the day…it was so nice to have someone talk nice to me!  I also thought, I really don’t do much for myself and I need to go and do more.

When I walked in the door, my husband commented that he hadn’t seen me that relaxed in months.  I really enjoyed the class and Sparrow Studios in general, and if you didn’t know, your first week is free! Thumbs up, I say go check them out, you won’t be disappointed!

Beth’s Story:

I was treated to Sparrow’s Buti class.  When I spoke with Suzanne after her  yoga class, she was so relaxed, she sounded like she was about to fall asleep!  I was beginning to feel as if I had gotten the raw end of this deal – I was going to literally get my butt kicked and she got Candelight Yoga?!  Thank goodness, I was pleasantly surprised!

Walking into Sparrow, especially as a mom, is like walking into a haven.  It’s quiet and peaceful and just for YOU.  You don’t have to worry about anyone but yourself and just focus on a little me-time.

To start off, I had a LOT of concerns.  I am NOT a dancer, I’m not bendy, I really don’t know how to “shake it” in any way.  I have been avoiding friends’ invitations to Zumba for years for these very reasons.  I figured that everyone that would be there would know what they were doing and I’d be lost following the  movements a step behind.

The Buti class, taught by Lisa, was honestly the most fun I have ever had while working out.  I’m typically a runner, so the winter months mean that I’m chained to a treadmill or a cardio machine while my kids play in a gym childcare. This was so much more fun!  The music is essentially an hour of fun dance music and fast paced rhythms that keep your body moving so much that the hour just flies by.  Think Shakira meets yoga.  I learned to move my hips in ways that I didn’t even know were possible, and I woke up the next morning sore, so I know it wasn’t just fun, it was a great workout!

I felt pretty inspired by the Buti class, so I returned for a week and tried out a few others and loved them all.  My husband has even been back for a yoga class to help aide his back issues and liked it enough to go back!

Sparrow Studios is expanding.  They are opening The Nest which is planning to open this Fall and is a couple doors down from their studio in Eagan.  They will offer more yoga classes along with prenatal and yoga for children! Make sure you go checkout their website at www.sparrowmn.com
