This weekend, Pet Supplies Plus of Crystal opened, and I had the pleasure of being able to attend their grand opening on Saturday.
The first thing I noticed upon walking in was the friendliness of the staff. They were warm and welcoming to me, my 4-year old, and our dog! I loved the prices on everything we looked at (…and bought). My son was extremely impressed by the dog washing room – it’s a huge self-service area! Not to mention, this location is extremely accessible, nestled between Highways 169 and 100 in the Crystal Shopping Center.
They offer a broad range of food, from premium items to basic grocery products, and a wide variety of pet toys, equipment, fish and critters. The new neighborhood pet store carries an extensive variety of Made in the USA pet consumables such as wet and dry food, treats, rawhide, chews and more all at great prices.
Unique to the locally-owned Crystal location, the store features a community room that will be available for local residents and groups to rent for pet parties, birthday parties, adoption events, and more free of charge. They will also partner with local shelters to arrange adoption events for dogs, cats, and even parrots, which will be held in the community room.
“Being pet parents ourselves, we understand the demand in the area for convenience and value when shopping for food, toys and necessities,” said Paul Bechel, franchise owner (along with his wife, Cheryl) of Pet Supplies Plus. “We look forward to becoming an integral part of the Crystal community and getting to know all the neighborhood pets and their people by name.” Paul’s friendliness and welcoming demeanor was evident throughout the entire time I was there – including carrying many customer’s items to their cars himself.
Recently retiring after more than 25 years in IT, Paul was seeking an opportunity for him and his to own a family-based business. Cheryl has previous experience in the pet retail industry and will bring her expertise to their new franchise. The husband and wife team also announced that they have signed the lease for their second Pet Supplies Plus location, which will open in Vadnais Heights this May.
They maintain a professional, experienced and knowledgeable local team. Their extensive training ensures that all team members are able to answer a broad range of questions about household pets from dogs and cats – to exotic birds, reptiles and fish, and are experts in natural and holistic foods. Shoppers can also take advantage of the free Preferred Pet Club, which offers members the benefit of regular coupons and monthly specials, which add up to big savings.
