With only a couple weeks left to spare, we finally got our nursery almost all wrapped up. The only thing we’re missing is a crib! haha! But who needs a crib right away anyways?! First time around we had the nursery all ready to go by the time I hit 20 weeks. And now with this one, poor baby, I’m already slacking and he’s not even here yet.
Today I’m sharing with you the before photos, the inspiration, and the after photos of our baby’s nursery, while offering some decor tips to help you plan yours!

We moved into our home not so long ago, and the one thing that Jamie, my husband, and I both agreed on was taking the renovations in this home nice and slow. We want to stay in this home awhile. Possibly forever. So we don’t want to jump to any designs until we are 100% on board with them and think thoroughly behind each remodel within each room, creating a space that reflects not only our style, but also our lifestyle needs.
Treat your nursery like you would the rest of your home.
The one thing we did know was that we wanted our little guys room to be stylish, classic and make a fun statement. Because babies don’t stay babies for that long, you might as well do something super fun that YOU love. Because the way I see it, they have no idea what their room looks like, and being us momma’s will probably be the one to be in there the most during long nights and days…I want it to be a room that is sweet, calming, and inspiring for me. Most importantly…CALMING…haha…for those very long and frustrating nights. And being you’ll want to re-do it once they become a toddler, that’s when the real kid-friendly decor comes out. When they are a toddler, they have an opinion. So for this space we went with green and natural wood earthy tones.
Don’t forget to add your personal style.
Here was our design inspiration that we put together before we got to work on the space. Before planning any room we always pull together inspiration whether that is from some of our favorite home bloggers, Instagram, or Pinterest. We then get a feel for the look of the space we want and pull together a mood board. The mood board includes some selections we need and some that would pull the room together. The last thing you want to do when planning your rooms is just start going after it without any design direction. You’ll spend way too much money and the room turns into a hodge-podge of a mess.
Pick one thing you love and pull colors from there.
The one thing we came across was this forest green wallpaper from Rebel walls and we knew it was a must. We knew this was going to be our statement piece and we would pull pieces for the room would reflect the calm, earthy tones.

Don’t just shop baby stores; check out trendy home decor stores too.
And here is what we came up with! I love mixing and matching objects, textures, colors, patterns, and old and new things. So with our decor assortment some of it is old books and pictures, sentimental objects, new vases, and decor pieces, etc. We knew we wanted some sort of shelving and storage units. With Greyson we never had a dresser for him and so far he hasn’t needed one. So instead of investing money into a dresser (which aren’t cheap) we just went with shelving and storage bins for the closet. These shelves we picked up from Shelfology and we absolutely got them because of the brackets. Way too cute to pass up.
Keep is simple and uncluttered – they will clutter it soon enough!

A rocking chair is another must. We got Greyson a double comfy seating rocking chair and we love it! I’ve been going back and forth on this rocking chair and getting a more comfortable one, but I got this one for free so for now this is what it is going to be. But I probably would invest getting a comfortable rocking chair and I’ll probably be taking my own advice soon.
Greyson has been such a big helper getting his little brother’s nursery ready. I was a little nervous how he would transition and what he would think about unpacking all of his old clothes and toys into the baby’s room, but he has been doing just fine!
And he is loving hanging out in his brother’s room…looks like it’s time to turn his nursery into a big boy’s room…
Where we are standing will be where the crib will eventually go. They always say to keep the crib away from the curtains, windows and from anything hanging on the walls. Sooner than later they’ll be able to reach, pull, and crawl their way out of those things.

So there you have it. Our super simple and neutral nursery. We cannot wait to bring little man home into in a couple short weeks.
