I am a Twin Cities Mom: Jenna Gorman

Today’s I am a Twin Cities Mom feature is all about Jenna Gorman!

“I am a lifelong Minnesotan and I have 2 boys, Jack (7) and Will (4). Along with my husband of 11 years, we all love biking, going on hikes and exploring state parks. I am a former high school chemistry teacher turned stay-at-home mom. Two years ago, I started my own food blog, Land of 10,000 Recipes. It has been such a fun outlet for me where I have made incredible connections. I focus on making healthy, quick and easy meals the whole family can make and enjoy together. My boys, Jack and Will, are my helpful little sous chefs!”

I am a Twin Cities Mom: Jenna Gorman | Twin Cities Mom CollectiveWhat do you love about calling the Twin Cities home?

I love everything the Twin Cities has to offer: awesome restaurants, lakes and so many activities for adults and kids alike.

If we peeked in your purse right now, what would we find?

Hand sanitizer and snacks (for my boys and me)!

How do you prioritize friendships and connections with other women?

I’m an extrovert, so it’s no surprise that this past year was quite challenging for me. I have truly incredible friends that are fun and supportive. I can’t wait to start hanging out with them again in real life!!

Being a mom is no easy task. How do you relax and take care of you?

Having an extremely helpful and supportive husband definitely helps! I try to prioritize exercise for myself. It helps me to clear my mind and is a great way to carve out some alone time.

What’s been your greatest joy in motherhood?

My goal in life is to raise two kind, loving and thoughtful boys. When I see them cheering on a teammate who’s having a hard time or helping a kid who fell at the park, my heart swells with pride.

What have you found most challenging in your motherhood journey?

Trying to carve out time for just myself. This last year was especially difficult since both Jack and Will were at home distance learning.

How do you hope your life influences and/or inspires other women?

My younger brother, Mikey, died from cancer when he was 4 (I was 8), so I am acutely aware of the fragility of life. Without sounding too cliche, I truly try to live each day to the fullest. With the public platform I have created with Land of 10,000 Recipes, I hope that I can encourage other parents to cook with their kids and help families find recipes that everyone will eat! Even though my blog focuses on food, I think it’s important to use my public platform to amplify social justice issues, as well. I want to be known as someone who loves food, cooking with her kids and always stands up for what’s right.
