I am a Twin Cities Mom: Aimee Norasingh

Today’s I am a Twin Cities Mom feature is all about Aimee Norasingh!

“I’m a Vietnamese- American woman who is a born and raised Minnesotan. I met and married my hubby, Paul, 12 years ago and since then we grew our family three times to our final number of six. I am a proud boy mom to four very independent, strong-willed, and different boys. This keeps me on my toes daily but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Dealing with so many personalities at home helps me with my day job as a Senior Relationship Manager at Optum Financial. I manage a book of national clients across the U.S. and it has me handling a variety of personalities and pivoting every which way you can imagine to ensure my clients are achieving their healthcare account goals.
Outside of work and family time, I also currently chair the Greater Twin Cities United Way Women United Giving Committee. Being first generation here in the US, I was taught so much about how much how those who give really helped support my parents in getting started here, and in turn support how I came to be here with my family today. Giving back is such an important piece I want to teach my kids because without help, no matter how little you think it is, it can make such a difference in someone’s life forever. I am forever grateful to those who have helped us and want to pay it forward.”

What do you love about calling the Twin Cities home?

My parents moved here from Virginia back in 1982 when my dad received a job offer from a local news station and we never left! I was born and raised here and I want to do the same with our boys. Our closest family and friends are here and we enjoy being able to be able to see (again) and have everyone in a closer capacity.

If we peeked in your purse right now, what would we find?

Ten lip glosses, hand sanitizer, tissue, altoids, hair binder, at least one Target receipt, extra masks just in case.

How do you prioritize friendships and connections with other women?

I make it a priority to make plans with my girlfriends whenever I can, especially now that we are more comfortable being vaccinated and things are opening back up. We try to do at least dinner or happy hour every other month or at least meet for special occasions like birthdays. I have 3 BFFs that we try to do a girls trip once a year. This was on pause the last two years and we are hoping to get that started back up again soon!

Being a mom is no easy task. How do you relax and take care of you?

I like to do errands on my own and take a me day. Me days can consist of just binging on a good show, eating good food at a good restaurant or getting pampered at the spa. Taking me trips is also something I try to do each year and do one without hubby or kids.

What’s been your greatest joy in motherhood?

Seeing my boys enjoy life. You can tell they love life and I will do what I can to keep it that way.

What have you found most challenging in your motherhood journey?

Not being able to protect my boys from every bad thing in the world. As a mom you want to shelter them from every evil and every bad thing as long as you can, but there comes a point where they will see and learn about things I wish they didn’t have to know about. As a mom, I’ve had to learn when to know when it’s time to have those tough conversations that I know have to be had. I’d rather it come from me and they be prepared.

How do you hope your life influences and/or inspires other women?

I hope other women know that there is no one way to do things. Just because it works for me doesn’t mean it will work for you. I always encourage others to listen and absorb information, but take and do what you feel will work the best for your family. Only you will know what your child will want and need the most. I am an open book and will always be open to share my experiences with you because I hope that me sharing will help someone figure out their own path, but I would never expect someone to follow what I say or do unless it’s something you feel will work.
