Why should Holiday Light Tours get all the fun? Halloween walking and drive-by tours are making a showing this year in the Twin Cities in a BIG way. In fact, they might be even better than a holiday show, if I dare to say so myself. With the fall colors adding to the ambiance and the weather comfortable for exploring, what better way to get into the Halloween Spirit than celebrating with one of these festive displays. Whether you want to walk or drive, be spooked or just delighted, there is something for everyone in this Ultimate Guide to Halloween Displays in the Twin Cities.

SOUTHWEST

ANNUAL WACONIA SCARECROW TOUR | Waconia, MN 55387

Drive through the city of Waconia on a self-guided tour featuring fall displays at over 30 locations then vote for your favorite scarecrow by picking up a ballot at various locations. October 13-23, 2022.

SCARECROWS IN THE GARDENS | Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Dr, Chaska, MN 55318

The Arboretum just shines in the fall so bring your bike or walking feet to tour the grounds and their collection of scarecrows hangin out on Scarecrow Hill. Sept. 17- Oct. 31, 2022. Gate Admission: $15/adult; Kids Free; Reservations Required.

SEVERS STRAW SCULPTURES & INSTALLATIONS | Sever’s Festival, 3121 150th Street West, Shakopee, MN 55379

The traditional fall festival is back this year! Along with the price of admission to the full festival enjoy a stroll through the straw sculptures and installations. $19/pp festival admission for ages 4+.

HALLOWEEN IN EXCELSIOR DECOR CONTEST | Downtown Excelsior, MN 55331.

Enjoy a stroll past the Excelsior store fronts as they get gussied up for autumn, ready and waiting for trick or treaters.  October 29, 2022. 10am-2pm. The window contest judged at noon.


NORTHWEST

HALLOWEEN CAPITAL OF THE WORLD | Anoka, MN 55303

Anoka’s House Decorating Contest returns for another year as Anoka homeowners decorate porches and front lawns with creative halloween scenery. Check the list for those houses marked family friendly and live action to find the ones best suited for your family. Public viewing is October 28 & 29 from 7-9pm.

GHOSTS OF ANOKA WALKING TOUR | Anoka County Historical Society, 2135 North 3rd Avenue, Anoka, MN 55303

More halloween fun to be had for the bigger kids in Anoka at the Halloween Ghost Tour. Bring a flashlight and learn about spooky encounters in Anoka’s historic neighborhoods. Expect about a mile walk to take 1-1.5 hours. Various dates available throughout fall. Tickets required. $15/pp. 

PD SHIMMERS | 4320 Ithaca Lane N, Plymouth MN & 4100 Juneau Ln N, Plymouth MN

A popular destination for holiday lights, PD Shimmers is adding Halloween to the fun with spooky projection shows starting on the 10s. October 27-30, 2022 from 7-9pm.

THUNEY’S HAUNTED GRAVEYARD | 15394 Uplander St NW, Andover, MN 55304

This is the perfect spot for those kids not quite old enough for Haunted Houses but ready for something a bit more spooky.  big enough for Haunted Houses. You’ll find animatronic zombies, ghouls, plus dozens of Hallloween costumed actors providing just enough fright for the night. Free, but Space Limited and Reservations Required.


SOUTHEAST

HALLOWEEN HAVOC HOUSE TOUR | Farmington, MN 55024

Come visit the City of Farmington’s spookiest houses all decked out for Halloween on a self guided tour. October 17th through Halloween. 

SPERRY TOWER | 1401-1407 Towerview Rd, Eagan, MN 55121

All year long this nearly-200 foot tower lights up over five through LED bults to celebrate holidays and special events. Don’t miss the Orange & Black lights for Halloween.


NORTHEAST

LANGNESS LIGHTS | 9610 223rd Street North Forest Lake, MN 55025

This popular house for Holiday Lights is offering a creepy version this year with a synchronized music and light display. Be respectful of driveways if you stop by. October 21-October 31, 2022. 

THE HAUNTED HOUSE ON WOODCREST DRIVE | 2313 Woodcrest Drive, Woodbury MN 55129

Don’t miss this Halloween yard display featuring a large collection of professional grade static and animatronic props, with DMX controlled lighting, fog and surround sound. October 28th through 31st from 6:30-9pm.

SCHULTZ FAMILY LIGHTS/HOLIDAY LIGHTS ON YORK | 1526 York Ave, St. Paul 55106

Tune your car radio to 91.5 FM for this synchronized horror show with cemetery, creepy clowns, and more. Collecting food shelf donations for the holiday season. Through Halloween, dusk to 10 PM.

IHRIG HOME | 5406 Adams Street, Mounds View MN 55112

This TikTok video alone is enough to freak me out, and get my kids very excited. The Ihrig Home won the 2021 Mounds View Holiday Lights decoration contest so you know it will be great. Catch the show at night through Halloween.

VADNAIS HEIGHTS COMMUNITY SCARECROW TRAIL | Community Park, 641 E County Rd F, Vadnais Heights, MN 55127

This is a great walking tour for young families, open during park hours. Be sure to take pictures with the funniest or most creative scarecrows, and vote for your favorite before you leave. Thursday, October 27 – Wednesday, November 2, 2022.

CANDY CANE LANE – HALLOWEEN DISPLAY | 1994 Herschel Street, Roseville, MN 55113

The favorite Candy Cane Lane turns Candy Corn for this Halloween walking display. Daily from 9am-9pm.
