We are embracing this warm weather in the Twin Cities with activities that get us outdoors and experiencing what our gorgeous state has to offer. There are plenty of town festivals, nature activities and fun runs listed here to help you shape your summer bucket list. We’ve worked to help you keep your sanity by bringing these June activities together in one easy guide so you don’t miss a thing! We’ll update with new additions as they come.

Now-June 1: Flint Hills Family Festival | Times Vary Presented by the Ordway, the Flint Hills Family Festival is an annual multi-day event featuring performances, free activities, art-making, and more. Families will be swept away on adventures that spark imagination and inspire exploration, with performances by artists from all over the world and right here at home.

Now-June 2: Edina Art Fair | Times Vary The First Official Art Fair of the Year! Ranked #1 in MN and top 50 of the fine arts fairs in the Nation. Featuring the top 280 fine artists from Minnesota, the U.S and Canada. FREE Admission

Now-June 2: Big Bounce America | Times Vary Welcome to the biggest, craziest and most awesome inflatable theme park ever to exist! We’re inviting YOU to join us and spend some quality time with family and friends in our magical, candy-colored wonderland of inflatable adventure. Individual sessions are available to suit all age groups from toddlers through to adults only.

June 1: Home Depot Kids Workshop | 9:00am-12:00pm Exercise mental strength with a game of tabletop golf. In this hands-on workshop you and your child can discuss the mindset, jargon and strategy of the sport as you build a putting green to master your hole-in-one. Once your course is built, your child can look fore-ward to decorating it with paint and stickers. All Kids Workshop attendees must be accompanied by a parent or adult at all times. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin. FREE.

June 1: Explore Washington County Parks for FREE! | All Day All programs are free! All children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. No permits required.

June 1: EcoArts Fest | 12:00-5:00pm Set overlooking the beautiful Minnesota River Valley, this free, family-friendly, zero waste event features interactive art and nature activities for all. EcoArts Fest engages kids and adults with fun activities that shed light on environmental issues through art making and show ways individuals can create change.

June 1: St. Anthony Park Arts Festival | 10:00am-5:00pm The Saint Anthony Park Arts Festival brings together artists, musicians, art lovers, families and a supportive community. Set in a charming neighborhood of St. Paul, the arts festival is a one-day celebration of both art and a historic Carnegie branch library. Now in its 50th year, the festival continues to attract high-quality artists from across the region. Set around the picturesque library grounds and nearby shops, the festival features 70+ artists as well as a community area, plant and book sales, art activities, good food and great music. 

June 1: Petting Zoo at Skyview Ranch | 1:00-4:00pm Skyview Ranch is a Unique Hands-on Farm Animal Experience. Children and adults alike enjoy feeling the different textures of the animal’s fur and feathers. They can see how soft sheep’s wool is and feel the soft fur of bunnies. Visitors are able to touch the friendly animals. Some of the animals that are usually included are; goats of all sizes and ages, sheep, lamb, alapa, potbelly pig, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, and rabbits.

June 1: Waterfest at Phalen Regional Park | 11:00am-4:00pm Waterfest is an annual fun family event featuring paddling, fishing, games, boating, arts & crafts, live animals, exhibits, native plant giveaway. street sweeper on display, music, and dancing, and food trucks.

June 1: Family Funday: Trail Trekkers | 11:15am-12:15pm Spend the morning walkin’ or a rollin’ on park paths with a naturalist guide in search of nature’s treasures during this program for families that have children with disabilities. Use different tools like binoculars and magnifying glasses to examine high up in the trees or down low under logs. Come enjoy the exploration – who knows what we may find. North Mississippi Regional Park. FREE.

June 1-2: Farm Animals Weekend at Oliver Kelley Farm | 10:00am-5:00pm Farm animals have long been an important part of Minnesota’s agriculture. Meet animals and their offspring, watch farmers as they shear off the sheep’s wool coats, and discover how farm animals were used and cared for in the 19th century. Then meet modern-day animals in the Farm Lab Barn and discover the many ways farm animals continue to impact our lives today. Explore the use of animal products in the historic farmhouse kitchen and the visitor center’s Learning Kitchen.

June 2: Grand Old Day | Times Vary Grand Old Day is Saint Paul’s first act of summer and the place to be on the first Sunday of June. There is plenty for the entire family to do at the largest one day festival in the upper Midwest. With over 150 food vendors, family fun area, art district, and six festival gardens, this is a day you will not want to miss. Kick off the summer season with Grand Old Day!

June 2: Open Streets Lyndale | 11:00am-5:00pm Open Streets Minneapolis is a free event bringing together community groups and local businesses to temporarily close major thoroughfares to car traffic, opening them up for people walking, biking, rolling, and playing.

June 1-8: I Love Burnsville Week | Times Vary Every June, Burnsville hosts a week-long celebration of everything that makes our community a great place to live, work, and play! Hundreds of people turn out to participate in events, meet their neighbors and have lots of food and fun. Every year brings new and exciting activities as well as perennial favorites. 

June 6: Big Rig Rally | 4:00-7:00pm Join the city of Eagan for a behind the scene tour and get up and close to tons of big rigs – fire trucks, police squads, mowers, plow trucks and the ever famous garbage truck. Activities will include: face painting, photo opportunities, refreshments and giveaways while supplies last! The event will be held rain or shine.

June 7: ASI Preschool Program – Midsommer Music and Magic | 10:00-11:30am Calling all små grodor (small frogs) … come hop, dance, sing and celebrate Midsommar the Swedish way! Explore Swedish (and Swedish-American) traditions with your little one. Topics will be explored through creative storytelling, music, art and more. Together, we’ll answer the questions of “What do Swedish families do throughout the year?” and “Why do they do it?” This program is specifically designed for children ages 3-5 and their important adults.

June 7:  Forever Wild Family Friday: Wild about Water | 7:00-8:30pm Head to Lebanon Hills Visitor Center for family fun with park activities and s’mores. Have fun with games and activities that explore water above and below. All ages. FREE.

June 7-9: Donutland | 10:00am National Donut Day is just around the corner! To celebrate The Salvation Army’s historical connection to donuts, we’ve partnered with Girl Friday Creative and Rosedale Center to create Donutland. This weekend-long pop-up exhibit will feature four large art installations highlighting – you guessed it – donuts! Stop by the East Atrium to snag a photo or two and learn how this sweet treat had humble origins from simple dough kneaded by our “donut lassies.”

June 7-9: Take a Kid Fishing Weekend | 9:30-1:30am Minnesotans 16 or older who take a child 15 or younger fishing don’t need a license that weekend, and opportunities for inexperienced, beginner anglers abound throughout Minnesota. Catch some quality, family time and plan a special fishing day or weekend. There are a variety of organized fishing opportunities throughout the state during Take a Kid Fishing Weekend.

June 8: National Get Outdoors Day | All Day Free admission to state parks. Start summer break off right by spending the first weekend out of school under the stars with your friends and family. Hike the trails, splash in the water, and sit around a campfire making s’mores with your loved ones. Whether you stay for the whole weekend or just spend a few hours outdoors, you’ll make memories that will last a lifetime, and you can use your new skills for the rest of the summer. There’s a state park within 30 miles of most Minnesotans, so take advantage of the opportunity to get out there and explore one!

June 8: TPT Family Fun Day | 10:00am-4:00pm Enjoy a discounted unlimited ride wristband for Como Town Amusement Park, a family-friendly amusement park for kids ages 2 to 12. Enjoy more than 18 rides and attractions including all-time favorites and new, interactive rides that can’t be found anywhere else in the upper Midwest. Stop by between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to see The Teddy Bear Band performing on stage. Enjoy a free kids foam party!

June 8: Huck Finn Fishing Derby | 9:00-11:00am Set the hook into some fishing fun with our Huck Finn Fishing Derby! We’ll have fishing contests for the largest fish, smallest fish, and most fish caught! Prizes are awarded for derby winners and each participant receives a fishing goodie bag. Register early, space is limited! Fee is only $5/person

June 8: Storytime and Activities Featuring Moon’s First Friends: One Giant Leap for Friendship | 11:00am From high up in the sky, the Moon has spent her whole life watching Earth and hoping for someone to visit. When is it her turn? Join Barnes & Noble at multiple Twin Cities locations for storytime, games, and activities. FREE. 

June 8: MN Craft Cider Festival | 2:00-5:00pm The MN Craft Cider Festival is the only festival in the state entirely devoted to cider. Taking place at Como Lakeside Pavilion, it’s an opportunity to sample dozens of ciders from local, national, and international cideries, plus enjoy food from Spring Cafe and Red River Kitchen food truck all to the backdrop of lovely Como Lake.

June 8-9: Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes | 10:00am-5:00pm Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes, presented by Minneapolis Northwest Tourism, is a free, 2-day street art festival with entertainment, food, and family fun! The Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes is featuring sidewalk chalk art by professionals, amateurs & art enthusiasts from across the world! The event is located on Main Street in Arbor Lakes. The Fountains at Arbor Lakes is also to display amazing murals by our artist-in-residence, Shawn McCannand visiting artists prior to the event.

June 8-9: Duetsche Tage | Times Vary Come share heritage and celebrate community at the Annual Deutsche Tage. Deutsche Tage (German Days) is held every year on the second weekend in June on the GAI’s beautiful Summit Avenue grounds. For the past 60 years, we have shared the arts, traditions, and cuisine of the German-speaking world and inspired thousands of Minnesotans to discover new aspects of their heritage.

June 9: Take a Kid Fishing at Thompson County Park | 12:00-3:00pm Catch some quality time with a child in your life. Bring your own pole or borrow one of ours. There will be lots of hands-on fishing stations to practice tying knots, casting, baiting a hook and more. Recycle your lead tackle or fishing line. There will be door prizes and giveaways. Concessions and ice cream available for purchase from Buon Cibo food truck.

June 10: Ladies Bouldering Night | 6:00-8:00pm Come one come many to the all women, ONLY women, evening of bouldering in the Cave! Minneapolis Bouldering Project instructor Hillary will be on hand to answer questions and help provide a fun and relaxing atmosphere. All abilities welcome from the, “I’ve never done this before”, to those who want to set routes, and everyone in-between. 

June 11-15: Farmington Dew Days | Times Vary Celebrate Farmington’s Dew Days with a parade, car cruise, fun run, fishing contest, medallion hunt, ribs cookoff, and bingo.

June 12: Movie on the Hill: Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse | 6:00pm-10:30pm Nothing says summer better than outdoor movies. Pick a spot on the hill for a movie at dusk, and enjoy music and lawn games before the show. Food and beverages are available for purchase. Hyland Hills Ski Area

June 13-15: Tater Daze Festival | Times Vary This annual festival that celebrates Brooklyn Park’s potato farming heritage includes a pickleball tournament, bingo, root beer floats, disc golf, a 5K run/walk, a pancake breakfast, fireworks, live music, a parade, and more.

June 13-16: Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest | The Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest is a four-day, family-focused event that offers something for everyone.   An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 people will enjoy wonderful food, fantastic bands, a carnival and much, much more!  Families and friends come to the event to be part of the community while they relax and enjoy the kick off to summer.

June 14: Family & Friends Fun Day at Dakota City | Times Vary This summer, bring your kids, grandkids, and friends to visit the past and experience life at the turn of the last century on our Family & Friends Fun Day, offered one Friday in June and one in July. Stroll through the museum and see horse-drawn buggies and farm machinery from the good ol’ days. With your tour guide, visit selected buildings in the village and meet the villagers, who help the children with hands-on activities. Enjoy playing vintage games, watch the blacksmith at work in his forge or the woodworker in his shop, withdraw money at the bank to spend shopping at the General Store, and more. Bring your own lunch and have a picnic on our village grounds.

June 14: Kid’s Penny Carnival | 4:00-7:00pmBRING YOUR PENNIES to the Kid’s Penny Carnival. Give each game a try to win carnival prizes. Games will include, a Hi-Striker, Duck Pond, Plinko, inflatables and more! 2-6 pennies per game – dollar bills will not be accepted at games! Bring pennies! A food truck will be on site selling food and drinks, please bring cash to purchase.

June 15: Shakopee’s Big Taste of Fun | 7:30am-10:00pmKick off summer with the annual Big Fun Day celebration. The event includes a giant splash pad, slip-n-slide, bounce houses, climbing wall and more. Bring your lawn chair and stick around until sunset and join us for the a family friendly movie at the amphitheater.

June 15: Pirates and Mermaid Brunch | 10:00am-1:00pm Don’t miss Lord Fletcher’s Pirates & Mermaids Brunch! Come in costume (optional) and enjoy face painting, balloon artists and REAL Live Pirates and Mermaids. Fun for the whole family!

June 15: Minnesota Parent’s Annual Kid Fest | 10:00am-1:00pm Entertainment will include live family-friendly music from the Teddy Bear Band, The Bazillions, Wendy’s Wiggle Jiggle and Jams, and Davey Doodle! ARTrageous Adventures will also be providing entertainment for the day! FREE.

June 15: Juneteenth – Celebrating Freedom Day | 11:00am- 6:00pmThis community-led celebration features a parade, music and performances, historical re-enactments, great local food and more. It takes place at the site of the first Freedom Day celebration in Minneapolis led by Michael Chaney and Spike Moss.

June 15: Midsommar Celebration | 10:00am- 5:00pm Head to ASI to celebrate one of Sweden’s most joyous and traditional festivals – no Nordic heritage necessary! Summer is short in both Minnesota and the Nordic regions, making Midsommar one of the most festive days of the year – a time to get outside and enjoy the high-point of the season. Whether you’re a festival regular, or just curious what the holiday is all about, there is something for everyone at ASI’s popular event. Be sure to make a midsommarkrans (flower head wreath) and prepare to dance and sing around the midsommarstång (midsummer pole).

June 15: Food Truck Extravaganza | 11:00am- 8:00pm The Food Truck Extravaganza will include over 20 food trucks, a marketplace, music, a business area and kid’s activities. This family-friendly event will be a great place to pop in on a Saturday, grab some food, shop a bit and learn more about our local businesses.

June 15-16: Stone Arch Bridge Festival | Times Vary Minneapolis’ 3rd largest festival is a celebration of art and music located on the beautiful Mississippi River between downtown and Northeast Mpls.

June 16: TC Pride Family Fun Day | 11:00am-2:00pm Come enjoy free hot dogs, corn on the cob, chips, and beverages with your Pride Family! FREE.

June 16: Como-Harriet Streetcar Line | 12:30-8:30pm Bring Dad for a free ride on his special day. Visit our carbarn and see where the streetcars are maintained and repaired..

June 17: Dairy Day Ice Cream Social | 5:00-8:00pm Head to the Bruentrup Heritage Farm to celebrate all things dairy! Learn how to milk a cow, or make butter! Visit exhibits, take a hayride, play lawn games, tour the 1912 farm house and enjoy lie music from the Last Minute Brass Band. Picnic food and ice cream available for purchase.

June 17: Women’s Climbing 101 | 6:00-8:00pm Women, take yourself to new heights and learn the ropes through hands-on experience in our Climbing Cave. Wear comfortable clothing and get ready to soar! All equipment provided. Led by Minneapolis Bouldering Project instructor Hillary. Sign up early because these classes are popular!

June 18: Movie at Bruentrup Heritage Farm | 5:30pm Come out for a family night of games, concessions, activity stations and the petting zoo! Movie (Ralph Breaks the Internet) will be held in the barn rain or shine.

June 20: Como-Harriet Streetcar Line | 12:30-8:30pm Bring Dad for a free ride on his special day. Visit our carbarn and see where the streetcars are maintained and repaired..

June 20: Como-Harriet Streetcar Line | 6:00 & 7:00pm Put on your jammies and grab your best bear. Then head for the Linden Hills Station at Lake Harriet for the PJ Party. We’ll start with milk and cookies on the platform, then board the streetcar for a trip down the line. We’ll stop for a bedtime story from a noted children’s author before we return to the station. The event lasts about 45 minutes.

June 20-22: Kids at the Castle: Watch My Garden Grow | 9:00-10:00am Make a morning playdate at the American Swedish Institute! June is here, which means our gardens are in full bloom – colorful carnations, vibrant vegetables and buzzing bees help us discover the joy of gardening with dirty hands and warm soil. 

June 20-22: Earle Brown Days | Times Vary From a petting zoo to kids’ crafts to inflatables, face painting, magic show and fireworks, there is so much to do and see at this event!

June 20-22: Twin Cities Jazz Festival | Times Vary The Twin Cities Jazz Festival is probably one of the most fun and coolest events in the Twin Cities! The festival is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) free outdoor event open to all.   The main stage along with several outdoor stages are located in and around Mears Park in the Lowertown neighborhood of downtown St. Paul, MN.  Over 20 St. Paul venues partner with the festival hosting jazz all weekend long.   As part of the festival mission, over 100 youth perform at the festival.   Our national headliners lead masterclasses/clinics to students that are free and open to all.

June 20-23: Dan Patch Days | Times Vary Dan Patch Days is back and bigger and better than ever in 2018. Great live music, delicious food, and of course lots of activities for both adults and kids to take part in. Minnesota Wing King is excited to be back for a 6th consecutive year with all of their staples as well as a few new delicious dishes for everyone to enjoy (Hint… one new dish may have to do with delicious Poutine). Friday Night Chris Hawkey will be playing. Saturday, the main act will be The Dweebs! Stop on down and enjoy the festivities at this amazing community event.

June 20-23: Oakdale Summerfest | Times Vary Oakdale Summerfest is an annual event that happens during the month of June. Each year there is a carnival, vendors, and free concerts. Come and enjoy a relaxing festival with us.

June 21: Summer Solstice Party | 6:00-8:00pm Summer is here, and we’re kicking things off. Live music, yard games, food and fun. This year, we’re featuring the acoustic stylings of Mariachi Jalisco, a four-piece Mariachi band. Lenamom Hills Regional Park FREE.

June 22: Firefly Festival | 7:30-10:00pm Discover the amazing world of fireflies. Participate in learning stations, search for daytime species and work on an art project. Safely catch and release fireflies during an evening hike. Learn how to record sightings for Citizen Science Firefly Watch at home. Reservations required. Children 17 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Eastman Nature Center

June 22: Riverfront Quest Family Walking Tour | 10:30am-12:00pm Explore the Washburn A Mill and the Minneapolis riverfront while completing a treasure hunt on this family-friendly walking tour. First, make a mini-journal and then discover treasure boxes and the stories of Minneapolis’s history along the tour route. Ticket price also includes admission to explore Mill City Museum after the tour. The tour is designed for ages 6-11, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

June 22: Minnetonka Summer Fest | 4:00-10:45pm Celebrate summer in Minnetonka with a tot trot, train rides, zip lines, sports challenges, petting zoo, pony rides, police and fire department demonstrations, live music featuring Koo Koo Kangaroo and the Casablanca Orchestra, and fireworks.

June 22-23: Afton Strawberry Festival | Times Vary The Afton Strawberry Festival & Marketplace will be celebrated in the historic village of Afton, MN. The festival honors the long & rich heritage of strawberry crops grown in the area since the 1800’s. This 2-day outdoor celebration will feature a blend of artists showcasing & selling their goods, vintage/repurposed vendors with many treasure, & a business expo. Great food, live music, & fun activities for the entire family.

June 22-23: Wayzata Art Experience | Times Vary Come to this family-friendly art fair with food and great music in downtown Wayzata! Perfect for the whole family. 

June 23: Princesses at the Park | 3:45pmCome One, Come All! It’s the most magical baseball game of them all! Join our princesses at this enchanted pre-game event at CHS Field! We will share songs, games, pose for photos, and enjoy the best meet&greet ever! Tickets include seats for the game beginning at 5:00 – and a Saint Paul Saints’ baseball hat for your little princess or prince!

June 23: Svenskarnas Dag  | 9:00am-5:00pm Start out the day with the Midsommar Loppet 5k, then join us for a Swedish church service, dancing around the Midsummer Pole, Scandinavian foods and handicrafts, music and dance groups from the Midwest, Sweden, and Norway, and the crowning of the 2020 Royalty family.

June 23: Uptown Food Truck Festival | 11:00am-9:00pm One of the Twin Cities most popular & delicious free events – The Uptown Food Truck Festival– invade Lake & Hennepin. Live music. FREE.

June 16: Como-Harriet Streetcar Line | 12:30-8:30pm Bring Dad for a free ride on his special day. Visit our carbarn and see where the streetcars are maintained and repaired..

June 24-30 + July 4: Rosefest | Times Vary Rosefest celebrates the community traditions of health and wellness, arts and entertainment, fun and fresh air for people of all ages. There are Rosefest events for everyone, including the annual Rose Parade and culminating with the Party in the Park on the 4th of July. There are events for those who like to be active and events for those who like to watch. There are events for adults, events for kids and events for the whole family. There are events to learn, but especially there are events to just plain ol’ have fun!

June 27-30: Blaine Festival | Times Vary The Blaine Festival is an annual community celebration with weekend-long events for the whole family, showcasing a wide variety of entertainment with something for everyone.

June 27-July 4: Apple Valley Freedom Days | Times Vary Check out the daily events leading up to the 4th of July! There will be a car show, fishing derby, fun run, golfing, patriotic pet contests, parade, music in the park, a carnival, and of course the city’s big fireworks show!

June 29: Water Lantern Festival | 6:00-10:30am Water Lantern Festival is an amazing experience where you’ll witness the magic of the lanterns as they light up the water.

June 29: Summer Solstice for Kids | 10:00-11:30am Celebrate the longest day of the year with your child. Enjoy storytelling, make sun prints and mud pies, and more. Reservations required. Everyone attending this program must register and pay. Ages 17 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

June 29-30: Eagan Art Festival | Times Vary A juried art show of 100 artists, this free art festival is one of the premier events offered south of the river! The theme for the 25th Eagan Art Festival is World Art Celebration.  The festival will highlight some of the artists that use nature in their work. Artists on-site will also be able to talk to visitors about how nature informs the work that they do. The Children’s Activity Tent and Art Experience Tent Community Project will provide a touchstone with projects that cross cultures.  At the bandshell we plan to showcase music from varied countries.

June 30: Happy Birthday America Parade | 10:30am-12:30pm This long-standing tradition invites kids to decorate their wagons, trikes, and bicycles in red, white and blue as the Shakopee Parks and Recreation Department marches through local streets in honor of America’s birthday. Entertainment and refreshing Popsicles follow.

June 30: TPT at Ticket to the Twin Cities | 10:00am Join TPT and Curious George at Ticket to the Twin Cities at CHS Field! Ticket to the Twin Cities celebrates the mission to provide experiences that inspire hopes, dreams, and achievements for a lifetime. The event is completely free and open to the public. Enjoy interactive activities from our generous ticket donors such as the Minnesota Twins, Children’s Theatre Company, Urban Air, Science Museum of Minnesota, and many more! Free transportation provided by Metro Transit. FREE.

June 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29: Eagan Parkrun | 9:00am This free weekly timed 5K event takes place at Thomas Lake Park.

June 1: Girls on the Run Twin Cities 5K | 9:00am-12:00pm The Alerus Mortgage Girls on the Run 5K is the culmination and celebration of ten weeks of training to cross the finish line while also building life skills, new friendships, and a community service project along the way. Join us as a runner or volunteer, this inspirational event is open to the public (including men/women/kids)!

June 2: Downtown Run Around with Mile in My Shoes | 8:30amThe Downtown Run Around is MiMS’ signature race, and the day when dozens of our members race their very first 5K alongside runners from all over the Twin Cities. Join us at our 3rd annual to “PR,” or come to fun run – either way you will be part of an inspirational day. The event includes a 5K race and a half-mile kids’ race, offering runners of all ages the opportunity to run across the iconic Stone Arch Bridge. 

June 12: French 5KM Trail Race | 6:30pm Remember when you were young and the summer days were hot, relaxing and seemingly endless?  Well, as adults we still get that but usually only on weekends and holidays… until now.  The Endless Summer Trail Run Series is the brain-child of two passionate Minnesota trail-running main-stays – Rocksteady Running and Twin Cities Running Company.  The series was created to provide low-key, low-pressure trail running/racing opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, and levels of experience. Whether you are a seasoned trail or road racer, first-time trail-racer, need a tune-up for your next race, need to get in some speed-work or just want to have some pizza, pop, and beer with us at the finish – running one or all of the races in the series is for you.  The Endless Summer Trail Run Series has garnered a strong local following and has gotten significant national media coverage as one of the best organized and most well-attended trails running series in the country!

June 22: Hope in Motion 5K & Family Walk | 9:00am Celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day at the Fifth Annual Hope in Motion 5K & 1-Mile Family Walk! Hope in Motion is Minnesota’s National Cancer Survivors Day Celebration, including a 5K Run/Walk, a 1-Mile Family Walk, a Kids Dash, wellness activities, entertainment, speakers, and more. Proceeds will benefit Angel Foundation, a local nonprofit that provides support and programs for cancer survivors and their families. 

June 22: Spartan Race | Times Vary Spartans are taking over the Welch Village Ski Resort in Welch, Minnesota — located less than an hour outside the Twin Cities. This Spartan Sprint, covering 3-5 miles, promises to test racers with a good mixture of 20+ obstacles, challenging ski slopes and hills, and no shortage of early morning fog, mud, water, and wind. Make no mistake, even the bunny hills become quad-searing challenges. The converted ski resort plays well into creating a tough course with wide pathways that allow Spartans to separate from the crowd as they sprint from obstacle to obstacle. Don’t miss out on the chance to take Welch Village’s natural beauty adorned with towering pine trees and rolling hills.

June 22: Walk for Amazing | 7:30-11:30am Honor the kids in your life at Walk for Amazing, the newest event benefiting Children’s Minnesota. On Saturday, June 9 we’ll rally together inside U.S. Bank Stadium for a ceremonial walk, family-friendly activities—climbing wall, yard games, face-painting, live music from Koo Koo Kanga Roo and more! If you haven’t experienced U.S. Bank Stadium yet, get ready to be wowed. It’s spectacular. And it’s accessible and ADA compliant so the whole family can be part of the action. Wheelchairs and strollers welcome.

June 29: Night Nation Run | 5:30pm The Night Nation Run is the World’s 1st Running Music Festival an ultimate blend of a Music Festival and a Fun Run. Experience a music-filled course with Live DJs, Light Shows, Bubble Zones, Neon and Black Lights. Cross the finish line into an Epic Main Stage After Party featuring Top Headliner DJs.

June 29: Warrior Dash | 8:00am Takedown 12 world-class obstacles and test your strength against the muddiest obstacles around. Venture through mud-caked backroads and uneven terrain as you race over three miles to the finish line. Enjoy the live DJ, beer, grub, and warrior games all day long – before and after your race.

June 29: Lift Bridge Road Race | 7:00am The Lift Bridge Road Race 10 Mile/10K/5K is based in Bayport, Minnesota. This course is mostly rural with scenic views throughout. It is based out of Lakeside Park on the banks of the St. Croix River making it not only convenient for participants but families coming to cheer you on as well with plenty to do in the park before and after the event.

American Sign Language Interpretive Day at Como Zoo June 2 | 10:30am American Sign Language Interpretive Day takes place on the first Wednesday of every month Como will have an American Sign Language interpreter on-site interpreting our public Zoo and Conservatory talks. These ten-minute talks will be interpreted between the hours of 10:30AM-1:15PM.

Sensory Friendly Mornings June 9 | 9:00-10:00am Head to the Como Zoo for an inclusive experience designed for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. There will be designated quiet spaces, sensory story time, and other adjustments that will make this time sensory friendly.

Sensory Friendly Sunday at the Science Museum of Minnesota June 16 | 9:00am See a lights-up, sound-down Omnitheater show at 9 a.m., visit the exhibit galleries before they open to the public, retreat to a designated quiet space to relax and recharge, and enjoy lighter crowds.

Sensory Friendly Sunday: Summertime June 2 | 10:00-11:00am Head to Lebanon Hills Visitor Center for family fun with park activities. Learn about the seasons and what’s happening outdoors through books and short activities in their indoor classroom. Ages 5-10. FREE.

Sensory Friendly Matilda – Children’s Theatre Company June 21| 7:00pm Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, this is the story of Matilda. Her dreadful parents can’t stand her. Her headmistress is a horrible, nasty, name-calling, life-sucking tyrant who puts kids in cupboards with nails and broken glass. (And you thought you had it bad.) This captivating kid-power romp revels in the anarchy of childhood. Celebrating the tenacity of the small, Matilda proves that the strength to be yourself (along with a little telekinetic power) will prevail at the end of the day.

Sensory Sundays at Urban Air Adventure Park  | Select Sundays An event specifically designed for children with Autism and special needs to enjoy time at the park without loud music, flashing lights and to have a lot of fun! See calendar for timing and details.

Sensory Jump Night @ Pump It Up Third Tuesday of Every Month | 6:00-8:00pm During this evening event, the play areas are reserved for kids on the autism spectrum and their families. Kids have a great time meeting new friends. Jump, slide and play with sensory-friendly games in a safe and controlled atmosphere.

Sensory-Friendly Story Time Second Thursday of Every Month | 9:30am Story Time will take place before the store opens to the general public. No music until after the store opens…except for the songs we’ll sing together! Small fidget objects will be available for children to hold if they choose. There will be a clear schedule for story time with visual cues. As with all of our storytimes, this is a no judgment zone! We all have unique needs and ways of expressing ourselves, and we at Wild Rumpus welcome and celebrate those differences.

Sensory-Friendly Saturdays at Select Dakota County Libraries | 10:30am Explore books, music, movement and play in a sensory-friendly setting that welcomes children ages 3–8 of all abilities including those who have difficulty in large groups, are on the autism spectrum or are sensitive to sensory overload. One registration required per family. An adult must accompany each registered child. Siblings welcome.

TPT Second Saturdays Sensory-Friendly Hour | 12:00-1:00pm Each month TPT opens up our studios in Lowertown St. Paul for a morning of PBS Kids cartoons on the big screen, meet & greets with PBS Kids characters like Daniel Tiger, Sid the Science Kid, and Buddy the Dinosaur, and fun activities like instrument making and carnival games. If that weren’t enough, the SciGirls squad are always on hand with all sorts of STEM-related games and activities to educate your child.

Sensory-Friendly AMC Movies Second and Fourth Saturday of Every Month | Times Vary AMC is proud to partner with the Autism Society to offer unique movie showings where we turn the lights up, and turn the sound down so you can get up, dance, walk, shout or sing! Our Sensory Friendly Film program is available on the second and fourth Saturday (family-friendly) and Tuesday evenings (mature audiences) of every month.

Sensory-Friendly Movies at Marcus Theatre Select Saturdays | 10:30am We understand that sometimes it is difficult or uncomfortable for families with special needs children to attend movies together. Marcus Theatre’s Reel Movies for Reel Needs is a specially designed program to serve families with special needs such as autism or other challenges, who seldom attend movies. Reel Movies for Real Needs creates a welcoming and comfortable environment – lower sound, lights up – where families with children who need accommodations will be able to share the experience of seeing family-friendly films at a theatre. A select first run movie is featured one Saturday each month at a convenient 10:30 AM showtime.

Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka – Stages Theatre Company June 28-August 4 | Times Vary Hop on a magnificent fantasy ride through the land of pure imagination with Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka. The scrumdidilyumptious adventures of Charlie Bucket touring the enigmatic Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory enlivens our stage this summer. This enchanting adaptation, featuring memorable songs from the 1971 film, will be a delicious experience for everyone to savor!

Music & Movies in the Park: Minneapolis Now-Labor Day | Times Vary Swing, Folk, Rock, Bluegrass, Classical and much more.  The MPRB summer concert season fills the air daily with music at five concert venues running Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Movies in the Parks series runs from early through late August.  The mobile program takes place Monday through Saturday evenings and travels to more than 30 parks throughout the summer, which includes a partnership with the Twin Cities Black Film Festival. 

Music & Movies in the Park: St Paul Now-Labor Day | Times Vary Music in the Parks is an outdoor music series taking place in Saint Paul’s beautiful parks during the summer months. All events are free unless otherwise noted. Bring along a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy a starlit night of fun with friends and family! Movies in the Parks provides a wide range of outdoor films at parks and recreation centers around Saint Paul. Movies in the Parks events are free and open to the public. Start times are approximate; movies typically begin at dusk but may start earlier or later. Some offer pre-show activities. Movies are weather dependent and subject to change without notice.  All children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Cultural Performances at Centennial Lakes Now-Labor Day | Times Vary From June through August, free cultural performances are held outdoors at the Maetzold Amphitheater at Centennial Lakes Park. Movies in the Park are shown at sunset on Thursday evenings throughout the summer.

Flicks on the Bricks and Summer Concerts Now-Labor Day | Times Vary Catch a concert, see a movie or attend a great festival this summer in Burnsville! All events are free and open to the public. 

Town Green Summer Concert Series Now-Labor Day | Times Vary Free summer concert series for the whole family all summer long at Maple Grove’s Town Green bandshell.

Pre K Program at The Works Museum Select Mondays | 9:00am-12:00pm Pre K Mondays feature special activities just for kids ages 3 to 5 and their adult companions. Ballet Tuesdays at the Landmark 2nd Tuesday of every month | 12:00pm The Saint Paul Ballet performs excerpts from the company repertoire each year, highlighting events for their coming season. They are held the second Tuesday of the month at noon from October through May. FREE.

Toddler Tuesdays at MOA Tuesdays | 10am-Noon Toddler Tuesdays is a program that provides events, free entertainment, and discounts, especially for toddlers. Events include special character appearances, arts and crafts, story time and much more! FREE.

Tent Tales for Tykes Tuesdays | 12:30pm Head over the L.L. Bean’s Adventure Dome Tent for storytime after Toddler Tuesdays in the L.L.Bean store! During each session, you’ll explore a different nature or outdoor theme, followed by related activities, games or crafts provided by Creative Kidstuff! Recommended for children ages 3-6. Caretakers must remain on-site and are welcome to join in the fun or spend the time shopping.

Storytime with Engineer Paul at Choo Choo Bob’s Train Store Tuesdays | 10:00am Engineer Paul hosts a storytime full of songs and smiles. Afterward, enjoy the morning exploring and playing with the various train sets and tables at this fun train store. FREE.

Wee Wednesdays at Midtown Global Market Wednesdays | 10:30am-1:00pm Wee Wednesdays showcase free educational programming, fun crafts, and great meal deals each Wednesday morning at Midtown Global Market!
 Dance with them, experience live puppet theater, learn to cook fun items together in the kitchen, and even pet live animals from the Como Zoo. FREE.

Tots & Trains at Minnesota Transportation Museum 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month | 10am-12pm Explore the Jackson Street Roundhouse & Museum with your little one. Check out their open play area full of train tables. Create a themed craft to take home. Cuddle up and listen to a train-themed story read by one of the museum’s passionate volunteers. Snacks for the kids and coffee for the parents are provided.

Kids at the Castle: Third Friday Playdates (American Swedish Institute) In the hour before the museum opens, join ASI for visual play, storytelling, music, movement and crafts inspired by ASI’s current exhibits- activities that will encourage creative minds and active hands. Recommended for ages 2-5. $5 per family. Registration not required; check in at the Information Desk by 11 a.m. on the day of the program. Adult accompaniment required.

Free First Saturdays at Walker Art Center 1st Saturday of every month | 10:00am-3:00pm Free First Saturdays feature free gallery admission on the first Saturday of every month, plus performances, games, art-making, and kid’s films from 10 am to 3 pm. Family friendly food options are available or bring something from home to snack on in the lounge or in the garden.
