Give A Gift of Experience That Lasts All Year Long

The Gift That Gives All Year Long | Twin Cities Moms Blog

This holiday season, rather than filling your loved ones’ closets with more stuff, consider an experience gift – one that continues to give all year long. Studies have shown that experiences – travel, concert or theatre tickets, museum or zoo memberships – are some of the most desired gifts during the holiday season.

The Science Museum of Minnesota is committed to helping all visitors see themselves in science. Through its exhibits, films, events, education programs, and research, the museum touches hundreds of thousands of people each year. And with more than 8 ½ acres of exhibits, plus a state-of-the-art, giant screen Omnitheater, it offers much more than you can possibly do in one day. A membership, then, is a perfect experience gift – one that allows recipients to return again and again throughout the year to enjoy new offerings and re-visit their favorite features. It’s a gift that is meaningful, economical, and makes a difference in our community.

In addition to exhibit galleries devoted to dinosaurs, the human body, the Mississippi River, and more, must-see programs for all ages are on deck for the year ahead. 2019 kicks off with Omnifest (January 4-February 28), a one-of-a-kind film festival that brings often-requested favorites back to the Omnitheater’s giant screen for a limited time. It’s an annual favorite, particularly for members. Spend the coldest weeks of winter at the museum, and see a different film every time you visit!

Also in the Omnitheater in 2019 is Cuba, a world premiere film that opens March 1 and lifts the veil on a rarely-seen nation of history, art, and science. The Omnitheater’s 90-foot domed screen will transport you to the meeting point of the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlantic Ocean to see the beautiful landscapes, colorful reef life, art, and history of our once-hidden southern neighbor.

2019 also brings the Game Changers exhibition (February 15-May 5) to the Science Museum. Explore the development of the video game culture that we know and love, and discover the creativity, ingenuity, and boundary-pushing that has pushed the industry forward. Visit your favorite characters and use your everyday reality to uncover the possibilities of innovation.

Science Museum gift memberships start at $89, and benefits include free exhibit gallery admission and Omnitheater tickets, discounts on parking, shopping, dining, and classes, advance registration for the Science Museum’s popular summer camps, and free or reduced admission to hundreds of other science centers and museums across the country.

And during this season’s hustle and bustle, reward yourself while you shop for others. Buy a gift membership between November 23 and 30, and get two FREE tickets to the Science Museum’s exhibit galleries (a $37.90 value) for yourself! The museum guarantees delivery by Christmas Eve for gift memberships purchased by December 19, 2018.
