Experience the Ordway’s New Family Series

Ordway Family Series | Twin Cities Moms Blog

Encourage your kids’ imagination and foster their creative exploration through the NEW Ordway Family series! Bilingual folk tales, Americana folk music, and bedtime story classics are just the tip of the iceberg as far as why you should be marking your calendar for these fun, family friendly-shows for kids ages 0-99!

Here are 6 reasons to attend the Ordway Family Performances with your little ones:

1) The fun starts as soon as you enter the doors with the Ordway’s pre-performance Play & Learn Lobbies. Create a beautiful flower, build with the larger-than-life imagination playground and more while learning about the performance you are about to see!

2) Introduce your kids to cultures from around the world through the performing arts. Family audiences are immersed in stories, language, music, puppetry and more with characters and performers from every background imaginable.

3) Nurture your children’s imagination to grow, create, perform, think, and play. A theater is a valuable place where kids can explore the endless possibilities of their imaginations and what they can do.

4) Sharing a fun experience with your whole family. The best part about seeing a live show is that it is a shared family experience. It will leave moms, dads, sisters, brothers, grandpas, grandmas, cousins, aunts and uncles discussing, retelling and singing the show for weeks!

5) No shushing allowed – Live family shows are all about audience participation. Your kids (and entire family) will be laughing, clapping, dancing, singing, shouting and participating throughout the entire show. And the greatest part is, no one cares! This is a space for kids to be kids and enjoy and participate in the show made for them!

6) To be honest, it is fun for parents too! It won’t just be the kids who are engrossed with the show. Don’t be shy – let your hair down and let your excitement take over. It will inspire your kids to do the same!

The Family Series performances offer:

  • A welcoming, judgment-free environment for audiences.
  • An hour-long performance packed with art and excitement with no intermission.
  • Family-friendly snacks and beverages will be available for purchase at the theater as well.
  • The Ordway has an accessible entrance, accessible and companion restrooms, provides accessible seating and assisted listening devices, and service animals are welcome. Additional accessibility services are available upon request.

Don’t miss your chance to share these performance experiences with your family with tickets starting at $16!

Ordway Family Performance Series | Twin Cities Moms Blog

Returning to the Ordway by popular demand, Mermaid Theatre brings to life two beloved children’s stories through their unique style of puppetry and black light. Adapted from Margaret Wise Brown’s 60-year-old classic, Goodnight Moon is a celebration of familiar nighttime rituals, while The Runaway Bunny’s pretend tale of leaving home evokes reassuring responses from his loving mom. Both stage adaptations feature endearing animal puppets and stunning scenic effects based on Clement Hurd’s illustrations, and evocative musical accompaniment.
