Fall in the Twin Cities is something special, and there’s always something fun to do! We wanted to make it easy for you and your family to find something to do, so we brought all of November’s activities together in this guide. This month is a little quieter with Thanksgiving, but we’ll update it with additions as they come. Enjoy!
November 1: Illumination Family Film Festival | Times Vary Animated favorites from the studio that brought us the Minions return to the big screen! The Illumination Family Film Festival will feature four films including “Sing,” “Secret Life of Pets,” “Despicable Me” and “Lorax” every day from Friday, October 26, through Thursday, November 1 at Marcus Theatres. Best of all, admission is just $5 per person.
November 2: Forever Wild Family Friday, Star Stories | 7:00-8:30pm Head to Lebanon Hills Visitor Center for family fun with park activities and s’mores.Sit around the campfire and listen to songs and tales about the night sky. All ages. FREE.
November 3: Gobbler Games | 10:00am-12:00pm Join the Lino Lakes Parks & Recreation Department for the 21st anniversary of the Gobbler Games! This FREE fun-filled family event is the perfect beginning to the holiday season. The event consists of low-key competition in a variety of athletic events. Teams consist of one adult and one child (ages 4 – 14 years). An adult may bring more than one child.
November 3: Twin Cities Birth and Baby Expo | 10:00am-3:00pm Since 2009, the Twin Cities Birth and Baby Expo has been bringing together under one roof expert speakers, educational events, and plenty of exhibitors that offer healthy and empowering services and products every year. Join us to explore, learn, and celebrate the transformative experience of growing your family! The Expo is packed with speakers, presentations, classes, and other special events, making it more like a conference while still having the same number of high-quality exhibitors. Special events will be scheduled to run all day long, so no matter when you come, you are bound to learn something new!
November 3-4: 2018 Mother-Daughter Event: Loving Me Loving You Loving Us | 1:00pm-11:00am The Girls Are Powerful overnight Mother-Daughter retreat is designed to strengthen the relationships between mothers and daughters through empowerment activities. Participants will have the opportunity to share lifelong memories and discover new things about one another. This overnight offers the opportunity for a mother and daughter to spend quality time together away from the rest of life’s distractions. The Mother-Daughter Event will help you grow in mind, body, and spirit. Our wide range of activities allows for both personal reflection, skill building, wellness, and relaxation. For Girls Ages 7 – 15.
November 3-4: The Great Train Show | 10:00am-4:00pm Don’t miss this annual show featuring 250+ tables of trains for sale, 50+ exhibitors from across the country, huge operating model train displays, a riding train for kids, free workshops and demonstrations, door prize giveaways, and more!
November 4: Try Hockey for Free Day | Times and Locations Vary Minnesota Hockey and local associations across the state will host Try Hockey For Free Day on Saturday, November 10, 2018, as a part of Come Play Hockey Month. Try Hockey For Free is a nationwide event led by USA Hockey with the support of the National Hockey League and NHL member clubs. Kids, ages 4 to 9, will be provided the opportunity try youth hockey at no cost. Each host site will have a limited amount of equipment available. All participants are required to have a minimum of a helmet, skates and gloves. If you will need help with equipment, we encourage you to contact the event host where you will be participating in advance.
November 5: The Puppet Adventures of Ned the Naturalist | 1:00-3:00pm Follow Ned the Nerdy Naturalist as he stops Trasher the Trash Can from trashing nature. Try artmaking with a take-home activity related to the show. The performance begins promptly at 1:00 PM. Art making follows the performance and is offered until 3:00PM. Children 17 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
November 8: Stillwater Ladies Night Out | 5:00-8:30pm Start the evening at 5pm where you’ll get your first drawing slip. Then shop and dine your way around downtown with your friends, all while collecting tickets for every $10 you spend at participating businesses. Drawing slips will be collected at the finale and prizes will be drawn promptly at 8:30! You must be present to win at the finale, but many shops have drawings throughout downtown. Lots of chances for fun prizes and giveaways!
November 8: Burnsville Uncorked | 7:00-9:30pm The Burnsville Rotary hosts their 16th annual Burnsville Uncorked fundraising event. Enjoy wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres. Proceeds for the event allow Burnsville Rotary to fulfill its commitment to community charities. Sponsored in part by Red Lion Liquors.
November 8-10: Minnesota Valley Women’s Chorales “Fall with a Little Bit of Christmas” Concert | 7:30pm Minnesota Valley Men’s and Women’s Chorales are separate organizations that come together bi-annually to share their love of music and song with the community. Each group sings separate sets and combine for a grand finale presentation.
November 8-11: Cirque du Soleil: Corteo | Times Vary Clowns have gotten a bad rap, pop culture-wise, in the last few years. But the lovable character at the center of “Cirque du Soleil: Corteo” is definitely not “It”. Instead, he’s a beloved entertainer who imagines his own funeral procession in the form of a festive and lavish parade, accompanied by flying angels. As he passes from this life, the comedian’s reverie blends past reality with heavenly fantasy, creating a spellbinding world brought to life under the bigtop by dazzling costumes and sets.
November 10: Second Saturdays at TPT | 11:00am Celebrate World Kindness Day at Second Saturdays with Arthur, DW, and Buster! All three characters from Arthur will be joining us this month and they’re bringing all kinds of kindness crafts with them. Make a Kindness Rock, color a “smile it forward” compliment card, and contribute to our paper chain of kindness! Plus, meet American Sign Language interpreters and learn how to be kind and spell your name in sign language.
November 10: Family Day Opens – Handmade Holidays | 10:00am-5:00pm ASI opens their 2018 holiday season with a day of fun for the entire family. Discover Nordic and Czech traditions throughout the rooms in the Turnblad Mansion, which will be decorated for this year’s theme: Handmade Holidays. Keep your eyes peeled for clever tomtes, make a family craft together, enjoy musical performances and wander through the exhibition.
November 10: Princess Party | 6:00-8:00pm. Your little princess can meet Belle, Cinderella, and Elsa at our Princess Party. We will have crafts, balloon artist, facepainting, hair-dos, photo opportunities, games, stage, refreshments, a deejay, and lots of dancing. Come in your favorite princess dress and don’t forget your camera. Event held at Blaine City Hall.
November 10-11: Holiday Harvest Wine & Food Festival | 10:00am-5:00pm Start your celebration of the season by enjoying holiday foods and wines on the Great River Road Wine Trail! At the first winery visited, each ticket holder will receive a wristband, a wine trail glass, and a six-bottle wine tote. At each winery, standard ticket holders will receive 3 one-ounce wine samples paired with 3 food samples.
November 10-11: Brick Fest Live | 10:00am-5:00pm LEGO® lovers rejoice! The Brick Fest Live LEGO® Fan Experience is filled with hands-on attractions and activities engineered to inspire, educate, and entertain. The Brick Fest Live LEGO® Fan Experience provides a venue for LEGO® lovers (of all sizes) to roll up their sleeves and dive into over A MILLION LEGO® bricks! Featuring inspiration stations, video game arenas, collaborative building activities, brick fest speedway, mosaics, and of course shopping. There’s even a miniature golf course built to inspire! Take your game to the next level on the Brick-Links.
November 11: The Music of PHISH for Kids at First Avenue | 11:00am The Rock and Roll Playhouse, a family concert series hosted at First Avenue, allows kids to “move, play and sing while listening to works from the classic-rock canon” (NY Times). Using the songs created by the most iconic musicians in rock history, The Rock and Roll Playhouse offers its core audience of babies and kids games, movement, and stories and an opportunity to rock out. The Rock and Roll Playhouse is an early and often the first introduction to a child’s lifelong journey with live music and rock and roll.
November 11: MIA Family Day: Exploring Egypt | 11:00am Explore ancient Egypt at this month’s FREE Family Day at Mia! Join an archaeology excavation of the imagination inspired by “Egypt’s Sunken Cities,” and travel to the time of the pharaohs. Decode hieroglyphs and mysterious symbols, and create your own versions of ancient artifacts and treasures.
November 12: Ladies Bouldering Night | 6:00-8:00pm Come one come many to the all women, ONLY women, evening of bouldering in the Cave! Minneapolis Bouldering Project instructor Hillary will be on hand to answer questions and help provide a fun and relaxing atmosphere. All abilities welcome from the, “I’ve never done this before”, to those who want to set routes, and everyone in-between.
November 17: Fall Harvest Family Fun Day | 10:00am-12:00pm Come celebrate the Fall Harvest with Roseville Parks and Recreation and Shoreview Parks and Recreation. The Fall Harvest Family Day will be lively with activities for the whole family: Arts n’ crafts, carnival games, self-serve photo booth, music, and light refreshments. Your Family will not want to miss out on this fun morning event! Pre-registration required.
November 17: Movies in the Outfield | 6:30pm Head to the Savage Sports Center for a FREE movie night! Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, grab some popcorn from the concession stand, and enjoy the evening with your friends, family, and community. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. Movie begins at 7 p.m. Indoor temperature: 65 degrees.
November 17: Saturday Family Fun Day | 10:00-11:00am Bring the entire family out to experience the WILD at Springbrook Nature Center. Explore the trails, learn new skills, meet live animals and more. This month’s theme is “terrific turkeys”! Please dress to enjoy the weather. Activities will be geared towards elementary school-aged children, but all are welcome.
November 17-18: A Yankee Thanksgiving Tour | Times Vary In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed Thanksgiving a national holiday. At Kelley Farm, experience what preparations for a Thanksgiving celebration were like 150 years ago. On a 90-minute guided tour, visitors will hike along the wooded trails to the historic Kelley Farm to meet farm animals and visit the historic house filled with the sights and smells of a harvest celebration. Following the tour, pie and refreshments will be served in the visitor center.
November 17-18: Healthy Life Expo | 10:00am-5:00pm See up to 200 local and national exhibitors showcasing everything to help you look, feel, and be your very best including doctors, clinics, nutritionists, healthy cooking chefs, in-home fitness products, authors, women’s & men’s health, yoga, martial arts, and more! Featuring 3 stages of speakers, seminars, and demonstrations running every hour on the hour. All stages are absolutely FREE to attend with admittance into the Healthy Life Expo.
November 19: Women’s Climbing 101 | 6:00-8:00pm Women, take yourself to new heights and learn the ropes through hands-on experience in our Climbing Cave. Wear comfortable clothing and get ready to soar! All equipment provided. Led by Minneapolis Bouldering Project instructor Hillary. Sign up early because these classes are popular!
November 23: Opt Outside: Gnomes Who Roam | 10:00am-4:00pm Do something outdoors with the whole family this Black Friday. Lebanon Hills Regional Park is the latest vacation spot for Jerome and his band of merry gnomes. Go on a gnome safari, geocache, and solve riddles to find Jerome himself. The wearing of gnome hats is especially encouraged. The Lebanon Hills Visitor Center will be open with a crackling fire and cozy chairs, and offer gnome-themed puzzles and games, a gnome book nook, coloring corner, and photo booth like no other.
November 23-25: Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt | Times Vary At Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt, there is a little bit of fun for everyone! KinderWorld is a main attraction for the children, where they can enjoy story-telling, face painting, parades and more! Adults can keep the fun going even after the events end, at the Biergarten located at the Excelsior Brewing Company.
November 23-25: Hmong New Year Celebration | Times Vary Nyob Zoo Xyoo Tshiab 2019! Happy New Year! Join the Hmong community at the Saint Paul RiverCentre as we celebrate 40 years.
November 24: Hastings Holiday Hoopla | 9:00am-6:30pm Hastings will have all the great activities again this year including breakfast with Santa, reindeer sleigh rides, kids coloring contest, cookie decorating contest, cupcake walk, horse & wagon rides, gourmet s’mores, pictures with Santa and the Grinch, ice carving, Who Hair, face painting, fire show, and carolers. It all wraps up with Lighted Parade down 2nd Street.
November 24-25: Jurassic Park in Concert | Times Vary Now audiences can experience this ground-breaking film as never before: projected in HD with a full symphony orchestra performing Williams’ magnificent score live to picture. Welcome… to Jurassic Park!
November 27: Peppa Pig LIVE | 6:00pm Surprise! Peppa Pig is hitting the road for her all-new theatrical tour, Peppa Pig’s Surprise! The brand new production features Peppa, George, and all their friends in an all-singing, all-dancing adventure full of songs, games, and surprises!
November 30: Princess and Superheroes Ball | 6:00-7:30pm Princesses! Super Heroes! You are invited to Zanewood’s Princess and Super Heroes Ball for an evening full of fun activities, dancing, and door prizes! This ball is for princesses and super hero for those in grades K-5 but parents are also invited to dress up too!
November 30-December 2: Jurassic Quest | Times Vary Jurassic Quest has been the LARGEST & MOST REALISTIC dinosaur event in North America since 2013 and is now EVEN BIGGER! This exhibit features science stations, incredibly realistic, interactive BABY DINOSAURS and WALKING DINOSAURS exclusive to Jurassic Quest, cinema, dinosaur bounce houses, and bungee pulls, crafts, face painting, green screen photography, and dinosaur jeopardy, and much more!
November 3, 10, 17, & 24: Eagan Parkrun | 9:00am This free weekly timed 5K event takes place at Thomas Lake Park.
November 3: Chocoholic Frolic Run | Times Vary Love chocolate? This run is for you! The Chocoholic Frolic 5k &10k races are chip timed runs that reward you with chocolate at the finish line. Just want to take your sweet time? Run, jog, or walk your way through these courses and enjoy chocolate stops along the way! At the finish line, you will be greeted with melted chocolate and treats for dipping.
November 3: Jingle Bell Run Twin Cities | 9:00am-12:00pm Be part of the largest holiday-themed 5K race series anywhere – and join the movement to conquer arthritis! The Arthritis Foundation’s Jingle Bell Run is a fun way to get out, get moving and raise funds and awareness to cure America’s #1 cause of disability. In communities nationwide, this annual event brings together people from all walks of life to shout “Yes, we will live life to its fullest while searching for a cure!” As a Champion of Yes, kick off your holidays by helping conquer arthritis once and for all! Wear a holiday-themed costume. Tie jingle bells to your shoelaces. Show off your ugly Christmas sweater. November 10: Girls on the Run 5K | 7:00am Join Girls on the Run-Twin Cities at their bi-annual 5k; a fun, community-based event that is open to the public. Come + take advantage of this awesome opportunity to learn about GOTR – a curriculum-based, youth development program intended to develop + enhance girls’ physical, mental, social + emotional competencies to positively navigate life experiences – and be part of a movement to empower young girls in our community.
November 10: Chaska Turkey Trot | 8:15am Join us for a fun family event on the second Saturday in November at the Chaska Turkey Trot 5k Race. Runners, walkers, and local residents gather at the Chaska High School to raise money for two worthy organizations. The Chaska DECA Club and the Chaska ROTARY Club join forces to bring a great event to all.
November 22: Walk to End Hunger | 7:00-10:00am The Walk to End Hunger is a family-friendly 5K fun walk presented by The Mosaic Company. Held on Thanksgiving morning in the Mall of America, it’s a great way to start your holiday off right – giving back before you give thanks!
November 22: Drumstick Dash | 8:00am The Drumstick Dash 10K course laps twice around Lake Harriet. The race is chip timed by MTEC, is USATF certified, and all participants receive a technical shirt. Course is moderately hilly on north and south ends, flat on east and west sides. Also there is a Cranberry Cruise One Mile, Cranberry Kids Half Mile, and a Pi Run.
November 22: Giving Thanks 5K | 8:30am Run or walk around Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove, MN on USATF certified 5k course with family & friends then return to Complimentary Claddagh Irish Pub & Restaurant for handy Breakfast sandwiches, Beer, cold and hot light beverages
November 22: Turkey Day 5K | 8:00am Since 1989, the Turkey Day 5K has brought family and friends together to start the day in a healthy way. Join runners, joggers and walkers for Minneapolis’ Thanksgiving day – turkey trot – tradition.
November 22: Turkey Trot St Paul | 8:00am All participants will receive an awesome long-sleeve performance T-shirt by Storm Creek, an authentic Turkey Trot St. Paul finisher’s medallion, a timed race on Thanksgiving morning, AND an excuse to eat as much you’d like later in the day!.
November 24: Moustache Run | 8:00am-12:00pm Bring your sweat catcher to the starting line this November and we will reward you with some sweat swag. Every MoRunner will receive the 2017 knit stocking cap and be inducted into the Moustache Run Club. Yeah, we have no idea what that means, but you’ll be “in”. November 10: A Charlie Brown Christmas Live | Times Vary A Charlie Brown Christmas Live On Stage encompasses each of your favorite scenes from the original animated television show. It even expands the storyline into greater detail with more fun, more music, more finding the true Christmas spirit. This Peanuts Experience also includes an intermission and, after the final bow, the show crescendos into a celebration of song as the audience is invited to join the Peanuts gang in singing Christmas favorites.
November 10: Santa’s Arrival at Burnsville Center | 10:00-11:30am Line the mall corridor as we welcome Santa to his workshop at Burnsville Center in grand fashion! Simley High School Marching Band will lead Santa through the mall with festive fanfare as Santa makes his way to his workshop! Grab bells and join the parade, take a picture with Apple & Bee from Applebee’s Grill & Bar, and grab a cookie dough treat from Cookie Dough Bliss – Twin Cities after the parade!
November 10: Cookies with Santa at Northtown Mall | 10:00am-1:00pm We are welcoming Santa with a fun Cookie Party! Join in on decorating cookies, playing games and saying Hi to Santa. This event is free and will take place in the Burlington Court.
November 16-18: Christmas at the Courthouse | Times Vary Indulge the senses at the Friday evening Gala Preview event. Guests are invited to sample local Northern Vineyards wine, Lift Bridge beer, delicious hors d’oeuvres from local vendors and enjoy live music provided by Curtis & Loretta while getting a sneak peek into the holiday bazaar featuring unique goods from local craftsmen and vendors. Reservations for the gala are $25.00 per person to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Christmas at the Courthouse event! Saturday and Sunday bring the Holiday Bazaar – FREE to attend! Wander into a winter wonderland on Saturday and Sunday. November 17: Bachman’s Holiday Open House | 9:00am-3:00pm Kick off your holiday season at Bachman’s! Be there when Santa and Albert the Elf arrive from the North Pole at 9:30 a.m. in a reindeer-drawn sleigh. Watch their annual holiday play, participate in a sing-along, enjoy live Christmas music, take part in kids’ crafts, meet Santa’s reindeer, snack on cookies from the North Pole, and have plenty of festive fun!
November 17-18: Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol | Times Vary Don’t miss a sneak-peek staged reading of the world premiere of this new musical, featuring an all-new original score by Dolly Parton. Set in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, mining company boss Ebenezer Scrooge meets the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, rekindling a spark of humanity in his hardened heart. A live acoustic band brings Parton’s original score to life in this “concert style” presentation of a heartwarming, musical re-imagining of a holiday classic.
November 17-18: NOEL The Musical | Times Vary NOËL tells a heartwarming tale of a little girl (Noël), who is preparing for her starring role in a school Christmas play when her mother suddenly disappears. On her quest to find her mom, Noël befriends a motley crew of homeless characters who have lost their way in life. Chief amongst them is Nick, who believes the world has forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. Noël’s bright innocence and unwavering belief in finding her mother, inspires Nick to embrace life once more, finding love and hope in himself and in the world.
November 18: Crafting with Santa | 12:00-3:00pm Cookies and cocoa w/ Santa, Free digital photo download from Julie Michelle Photography, free make and take holiday craft, prize drawings, Toys for Tots drive. FREE family fun event.
November 23: Santa and his Reindeer | 1:00-3:00pm Santa will once again be at the Twin Cities Premium Outlets with his reindeer, Donner and Blitzen, on Black Friday. You may come pet the reindeer and take pictures with them and Santa! *Event is free to attend.
November 23-25: St Croix Ballet The Nutcracker | Times Vary The Stillwater Nutcracker, now in its 27th year, is a family-friendly version choreographed to the music of Tchaikovsky and follows the traditional storyline of a young girl named Clara and her Christmas dream. Our version includes a live narration and the exuberant dancing of young children ages 5 through the professional level.

November 24: Stocking Stroll at Maplewood Mall | 11:00am-2:00pm Save the Date for our annual Stocking Stroll! Modeled after our Halloween Trick or Treat Night and our fantastic Easter Egg Hunt, The Stocking Stroll will include a fun scavenger hunt for holiday treats where kiddos will fill their stockings at over 20 stations.
November 2-4: Minneapolis Art and Gift Expo | Times Vary Celebrate the holidays with a dazzling array of homewares, holiday decor, jewelry, accessories, pottery, sculpture, textiles, paintings, and so much more. Find fabulous gifts from accomplished artisans and unique boutiques across the city—all under one roof at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
November 3: Hmong Arts and Crafts Fair | 11:00am-4:00pm Come and do your holiday shopping at the Hmong Arts and Craft Fair! Support talented local artists and entrepreneurs this holiday season and find some really unique and awesome gifts for your loved ones. This event will be held in the HAP community room from 11am to 4pm. It’s FREE to the public! There will be free door prizes and kids activities.
November 3: Nature Arts & Crafts Fair | 10:00am-3:00pm Start your holiday shopping in a peaceful environment. The fair includes local artisans and crafters of jewelry, felting, painting, natural beauty products, homemade jams & jellies, local maple syrup & honey and more. Enjoy the atmosphere of the 1000-acre park reserve with a hike after you shop. All vendor fees donated to the VEAP-Bloomington Food Shelf. Free.
November 3-11: Peggy’s Holiday Boutique | Times Vary Peggy’s Holiday Boutique was formerly Schultz-is -in-Stitches! It features 150 Fine Artists and Craftsmen showing their original work, gallery style, for nine days at the Roseville Skating Center. We spotlight glorious jewelry, clothing, hand-dyed scarves, woven baskets, pottery, dolls, leaded glass, rosemaling, photography, watercolors, pastels, handmade paper, books, cards, silk floral arrangements, seasonal decorations, pillows, and toys. Live music lends a festive atmosphere while you enjoy complimentary tea and gourmet samples and you fulfill your holiday shopping experience. Parking is easy and admission is free.
November 8-11: Autumn Festival – An Arts and Crafts Affair | Times Vary Hundreds of the Nation’s finest artists and crafters display and sell their handcrafted works. Voted one of the top 100 shows in the country according to Sunshine Artist Magazine. Entertainment, hourly gift certificate drawings, food & drink, Free Parking, and lots of family fun!
November 9-11: Minneapolis Holiday Boutique | Times Vary Designer rooms, Artisan products, Ladies Night Out on Friday with prizes, Mother/Daughter day on Saturday with door prizes, make it take it workshops. Christopher Straub of Lifetime’s Project Runway is back and will be picking the best of the best and must-have gifts.
November 11: Christmas Market at the Hutton House | 11:00am-6:00pm The MN Christmas Market is an annual pop-up holiday shopping event that showcases homegrown brands and makers, with a charitable twist. November 30-December 10: St. Paul European Christmas Market | Times Vary The European Christmas Market in St. Paul is a free event based on the traditional, charming, and festive open-air Christkindlmarkts that spring up in Germany, Austria, and other countries during the Advent season. Shop for unique, handmade holiday gifts and decorations from local vendors, drink Glühwein (spiced mulled wine), and taste European inspired food and delicacies during the first two weekends in December.
American Sign Language Interpretive Day at Como Zoo November 7 | 10:30am American Sign Language Interpretive Day takes place on the first Wednesday of every month Como will have an American Sign Language interpreter on-site interpreting our public Zoo and Conservatory talks. These ten-minute talks will be interpreted between the hours of 10:30AM-1:15PM.
Sensory Friendly Mornings November 11 | 7:00-10:00pm Head to the Como Zoo for an inclusive experience designed for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. There will be designated quiet spaces, sensory story time, and other adjustments that will make this time sensory friendly.
I Come From Arizona at Children’s Theatre November 16 | 7:00pm Gabi Castillo, a bright, 14-year-old Mexican-American girl living on the South Side of Chicago, is accepted into a very different, elite high school. Through her Global Perspectives class, she learns secrets about her past and her parents, discovers her own inherited strength, and begins to understand what it means to take risks. In today’s world of immigration raids and Dreamers, fear and uncertainty, Gabi inspires a modern-day lesson in bravery, courage, and finding power in what seems like a powerless situation.
Sensory Sundays at Urban Air Adventure Park | Select Sundays An event specifically designed for children with Autism and special needs to enjoy time at the park without loud music, flashing lights and to have a lot of fun! See calendar for timing and details.
Sensory Jump Night @ Pump It Up Third Tuesday of Every Month | 6:00-8:00pm During this evening event, the play areas are reserved for kids on the autism spectrum and their families. Kids have a great time meeting new friends. Jump, slide and play with sensory-friendly games in a safe and controlled atmosphere.
Sensory-Friendly Story Time Second Thursday of Every Month | 9:30am Story Time will take place before the store opens to the general public. No music until after the store opens…except for the songs we’ll sing together! Small fidget objects will be available for children to hold if they choose. There will be a clear schedule for story time with visual cues. As with all of our storytimes, this is a no judgment zone! We all have unique needs and ways of expressing ourselves, and we at Wild Rumpus welcome and celebrate those differences.
Sensory-Friendly Saturdays at Select Dakota County Libraries | 10:30am Explore books, music, movement and play in a sensory-friendly setting that welcomes children ages 3–8 of all abilities including those who have difficulty in large groups, are on the autism spectrum or are sensitive to sensory overload. One registration required per family. An adult must accompany each registered child. Siblings welcome.
TPT Second Saturdays Sensory-Friendly Hour | 12:00-1:00pm Each month TPT opens up our studios in Lowertown St. Paul for a morning of PBS Kids cartoons on the big screen, meet & greets with PBS Kids characters like Daniel Tiger, Sid the Science Kid, and Buddy the Dinosaur, and fun activities like instrument making and carnival games. If that weren’t enough, the SciGirls squad are always on hand with all sorts of STEM-related games and activities to educate your child.

Our Sensory Friendly Film program is available on the second and fourth Saturday (family-friendly) and Tuesday evenings (mature audiences) of every month.
Sensory-Friendly Movies at Marcus Theatre Select Saturdays | 10:30am We understand that sometimes it is difficult or uncomfortable for families with special needs children to attend movies together. Marcus Theatre’s Reel Movies for Reel Needs is a specially designed program to serve families with special needs such as autism or other challenges, who seldom attend movies. Reel Movies for Real Needs creates a welcoming and comfortable environment – lower sound, lights up – where families with children who need accommodations will be able to share the experience of seeing family-friendly films at a theatre. A select first run movie is featured one Saturday each month at a convenient 10:30 AM showtime.

This year’s Holidazzle features stories highlighting local people, products and places that showcase the food scene, art district, park system, active lifestyle, local entertainers and community groups that make our city and our region unique and special. Minneapolis-centric vendors provide options for prepared and packaged food, beverages and unique gift and craft items. This year’s programming lineup will include the outdoor skating rink, visits from Santa Claus, musical performances from bands and choirs, weekly movies featuring holiday classics, themed days, giveaways, surprise and delight moments and more. Night Trains Saturdays, November-February | 6:00-9:00pm Night Trains Season comes to museum layouts in a magical way, the lights are turned down, the buildings and street lights glow warmly, setting the scene for specially lighted models of vintage passenger trains. The make-believe town of Matlin is buried in a blizzard, and throughout the Museum the layouts are adorned with miniature Christmas lights and decorations.
