10 Fun Events to Celebrate Earth Day in the Twin Cities

Outdoor season is upon us! And what better way to usher in our favorite season in Minnesota than with an Earth Day celebration this April! Parks and Nature Centers around the Twin Cities metro are putting on their best parties for Mother Earth’s big day. Visit your favorite nature center and check for signs of spring. Or better yet, check out a new place that just might become a favorite! Most of these events are great for all ages so get out and give Mother Nature a great big hug this Earth Day!

Earth Day Art Buffet | Roseville Library, 2180 Hamline Ave N, Roseville

Celebrate earth day by making art at the Ramsey County Library’s “Earth Day Art Buffet”. The library will have a variety of materials, tools and art supplies. Drop in anytime and get creative!

Environmental Fun Fair | Springbrook Nature Center | 100 85th Ave. N.W., Fridley

Enjoy family-friendly fun at this outdoor festival including interpretive hikes, exhibits, and food trucks onsite.

Story Stroll | Nokomis Library |  Minneapolis

Come celebrate Earth Day on a story stroll! Hike from page to page reading a special story for Spring: Anne Rockwell’s Hiking Day. Funded by Friends of the Nokomis Library.

North Mississippi Regional Park Earth Day Celebration | 4900 Mississippi Ct, Minneapolis

Take a self-guided nature hike, complete a scavenger hunt and art activities, as well as clean up the park space.

Eden Prairie Eco Expo | Eden Prairie Center | 8251 Flying Cloud Dr, Eden Prairie

Visit the Family Fun Zone of the Eden Prairie Eco Expo to learn all about our favorite pollinators, protecting water, and play some fun recycling games.

Family Earth Day Celebration | Wargo Nature Center | 7701 Main St, Lino Lakes

In addition to earthy art projects and hiking the trails, this festival also includes a bounce house for the little ones and refreshments for all.

Earth Day Adventure | Lowry Nature Center, 7025 Victoria Drive, Victoria

Visitors are invited to hunt for clues in the form of Earth Day riddles that also teach how to help the earth.

Earth Day / Arbor Day Celebration | Wood Lake Nature Center, 6710 Lake Shore Drive, Richfield

Join the nature center in cleaning up liter, helping with prairie restoration project, and visiting the booths of an Earth Day fair. Food Trucks onsite.

Earth Day at Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature Center | Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature Center, 3554 Kelvin Ave N, Lake Elmo

Come celebrate Earth day at this multi-weekend event April 22 & 29, 2023. Weather permitting.

April 22, 2023, 9am-Noon. Participate in spreading native seeds, including flower seeds, sedges and grasses followed by a picnic lunch (i.e. hot dogs, chips and a drink).
April 29, 2023, 9am-Noon. Plant oak seedlings followed by lunch. Participants are asked to bring one spade per family, and some work gloves. Families attending the April 29th event can register ahead to adopt their own oak seedling to take home and care for in their own backyard. Seedlings cost $5.00 and must be pre-ordered here.

Free Family Fun Day: Story Stroll | Richardson Nature Center, 8737 East Bush Lake Road, Bloomington

Take a stroll around the Hyland Lake Park Reserve, stopping along the trail to read the book Seeing Into Tomorrow by Richard Wright and Nina Crews.
