The Eden Prairie Art Center is here for homeschoolers! Our classes serve as a supplement to homeschool curriculum and teach STEAM skills through hands-on art making. Homeschool Clay Lab- Math and Science through Pattern (#436250-01)
Wednesdays, Sept. 14 – Oct. 5, 9:30 am – 12 pm ($130)
Ages 8 – 12
Increase skills in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) through hand-built clay. Patterns are everywhere, from nature to human-made designs. Discover the science and history behind a variety of patterns and learn about symmetry and asymmetry. Students experiment with pinch and slab methods combined with texturing processes such as stamping, carving and slip and score to produce unique patterns on clay pieces. No experience necessary. All supplies provided.
Homeschool Glass Lab- Math and Science through Color Chemistry (#436246-01)
Tuesdays, Oct. 18 – Nov. 22, 9:30 am – 12 pm ($150)
Ages 10 – 15
Full STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) ahead in this glass class designed for homeschoolers. Students learn the basics of glass fusing while experimenting with chemistry through the discovery of what happens when various glass colors react to one another when fired. No experience necessary. All supplies provided. Must wear closed toed shoes.
Homeschool Print Lab- Science and Engineering through Print and Paper (#436245-01)
Thursdays, Oct. 27 – Nov. 17, 9:30 am – 12 pm ($120)
Ages 9 – 13
Most of us know that oil and water don’t mix, but making a connection in real life is a powerful way for students to truly understand this scientific concept. Join the fun in our STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math)-based class focusing on science and engineering through bright, colorful water-resist mono-prints and intricate paper folding. No experience necessary. All supplies provided.
