TCMB says “We’re with Cupid”

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Cupid’s Undie Run, raising awareness in the fight against neurofibromatosis (NF). On Saturday February 13th, our team will be joining hundreds of other other locals in this 1-mile fun run (don’t worry…we’re keeping our clothes on!). Find more info at the bottom of this post to see how you can join our team to get 25% off your entry fee and then start raising money with us for this fantastic cause.

This February, more than 25,000 scantily clad runners in 36 cities across the United States and three cities in Australia will raise awareness of neurofibromatosis (NF) and donations to the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF) through Cupid’s Undie Run. Sponsored by Sock it to Me and recognized as the world’s largest organized underwear run, the event gives participants the opportunity to strip off the usual workday wear and show their support for research of NF in just their undies.

“Kids with NF have to overcome challenges on a daily basis,” says Chad Leathers, co-‐founder of Cupid’s Undie Run. “This event puts people in an uncomfortable situation while putting some hilarity in charity.” The idea for Cupid’s Undie Run was born in February 2010 with the desire to help a friend in need.

In 2009, Chad’s little brother, Drew, became paraplegic during his battle with NF, spent 183 days in the hospital and was bedridden for the remainder of the year. Determined to help Drew, friends Brendan Hanrahan and Bobby Gill rallied alongside Chad to create an event that would support NF research while taking a non‐traditional, yet fun approach towards fundraising. After just 30 days of planning, the first Cupid’s Undie Run was held in Washington, DC with more than 650 runners and six feet of snow.

“What started as a small event to help a friend has grown into a global fundraising phenomenon that includes the support of the entire NF community with a mission to end NF,” said Gill, co-founder of Cupid’s Undie Run. To date, Cupid’s Undie Run has donated nearly $8 million to CTF to fund research that will one day #EndNF. A nationally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit, Cupid’s Undie Run is operated by hundreds of volunteers and supporters throughout the country.

This year, Cupid’s Undie Run Held will be held in 35 cities across the United States and four cities in Australia, Cupid’s Undie Run is the world’s largest organized underwear run and benefits the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF). The event combines a pre-race party, a one mile-ish undie run and an after party.

In 2010, founders Brendan Hanrahan, Chad Leathers and Bobby Gill set off on a mission to raise awareness and donations to the CTF after Chad’s brother’s diagnosis of neurofibromatosis (NF). A nationally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit, Cupid’s Undie Run has donated nearly $8 million to CTF. See photos here.

The Children’s Tumor Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to finding effective treatments for the millions of people worldwide living with neurofibromatosis (NF). NF can cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and may lead to blindness, bone abnormalities, cancer, deafness, disfigurement, learning disabilities, and disabling pain. NF affects one in every 3,000 people, more than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Huntington’s disease combined. The Children’s Tumor Foundation funds critical research into neurofibromatosis that, in addition to benefiting those who live with NF, is shedding new light on several forms of cancer, brain tumors, bone abnormalities, and learning disabilities – ultimately benefiting the broader community.
