Comcast has spent more than a decade working to address digital inequities. Comcast wants everyone to have the skills, resources, and tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world, from connecting people to the internet to supporting young, diverse storytellers.
Today there are more pathways than ever for students, families, and individuals to get connected and learn digital skills at little or no cost to them. In fact, a recent White House announcement celebrates an important milestone in our country’s efforts to promote broadband adoption and help low-income families subscribe and stay connected to the internet.
Now qualifying households in the Twin Cities metro can get FREE home broadband!
Comcast is participating in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). The ACP provides eligible low-income households a credit up to $30 a month toward the cost of Internet service ($75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands). Customers who qualify can apply ACP credits to any tier of Xfinity Internet, including Internet Essentials.
- Comcast’s top-rated Xfinity Mobile service, which includes 5G, is now available to customers enrolled in ACP, giving them the ability to save money on their connectivity needs inside and out of the home.
- Internet Essentials customers can use their $30/month ACP discount to pay for both Xfinity Internet and Xfinity Mobile service. For example, an Internet Essentials customer (paying $9.95/month) can add one line of Unlimited on Xfinity Mobile ($45/month) for $24.95/month after applying the ACP discount.

Why is this important?
The program helps connect thousands of people to the internet who haven’t had access to it at home, especially in communities that have historically faced more barriers to getting online. The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program that helps ensure households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare, and more.
Who can use this?
A household must meet at least one of the following criteria: qualifies for the federal Lifeline program (i.e., Medicaid, SNAP, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Federal Public Housing Assistance, Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit, Tribal Programs for Residents for Qualifying Tribal Lands); receives benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision; has an income that is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines; and, or received a federal Pell Grant in the current award year.
