Go, See, Explore: Central Park in Maple Grove

Picture this: your kids playing queen or king of the mountain by themselves or with friends, WITHOUT your assistance!

This is one of the many reasons why we LOVE Central Park in Maple Grove, MN.

Activities for All Seasons

Central Park is a sprawling park on 44 acres and has numerous activities for littles and for the big kids too. The park is located close to Weaver Lake Road and Main St., in the heart of Maple Grove. In the winter, it features an ice-skating loop and crokicurl (more on that later). Warmer months feature an amazing interactive fountain (splashpad), playgrounds, a labyrinth, pickleball courts, and the most beautiful garden scenery that makes it easy to get those steps in.

Playground Features

  • Seven play zones
  • 24-foot climbing tour
  • Four slides
  • Unique swings
  • 120-foot climbing wall
  • Accessible, rubberized surface and some sand areas

Please note dogs are not permitted in the playground area.

Interactive Fountain

The interactive fountain is a 2,100 sq. ft. plaza with 49 jet sprays and 18 arching sprays. It’s FREE to play in the fountain, and sure to be a hit with the kids on those hot summer days! Beautiful LED lights turn the fountain into a light show once the sun goes down.

Equipment Available to Rent

Central Park has equipment to rent to make enjoying the park even easier! In the summer, rent bean bags for cornhole, bocce ball, or pickleball equipment. In the winter, rent skates to glide around the Ice Skate Loop!

The Pavilion is available for rental from April to Mid-November for parties, events, or large gatherings.

Trails

A .83-mile trail loop on the north side of Central Park circles the storm pond and connects to the 55 miles of Maple Grove trails. From here, continue on to the trails around the three lakes in the immediate area — Arbor Lake, North Arbor Lake, and West Arbor Lake. Central Park is the perfect place to start and end your family bike ride.

Great Lawn

This 2.5 acre green space serves two purposes:

  • Casual non-programmed green space for the community to gather
  • Venue to host large special events for local and regional gatherings

During the majority of days, the lawn is a perfect place to bring a blanket, have a picnic, fly a kite, or throw a frisbee.

Gardens

Enjoy the beautiful Central Park garden areas. The gardens feature thousands of perennials and plants native to Minnesota that provide color and interest all summer long.

Crokicurl

What is crokicurl you ask? Crokicurl is an ice sport that combines crokinole with curling—adapts the popular board game to a circular or octagonal ice rink, where two opposing teams (comprising one or two players) glide curling stones toward the center of the ice.
