From My Favorite Corner: Balancing Work & Home

from the owner's desk (1)

Have you checked out our newest, regular series, written by our Founder?

My desk is my new favorite corner of our home. It’s my little haven, a place of rest that is personalized just for me, and no one else. It’s also the place I get to dig into our writer’s articles, do a little dreaming for TCMB events and even a little dreaming for myself. Our writers truly put a lot into their articles and we want to be sure you get a chance to see them more often!

Each Sunday, I’ll be sharing a few thoughts and a handful of articles on a specific theme. We’ve had well over 40 writers total in our 2+ years in action and the wisdom, knowledge and tips they’ve shared is wide! Today, we’d love to share a few things that have helped those of us that work outside the home attain just a bit of balance.

Work-life balance. It most often feels like that intangible thing you can’t ever achieve. How DO you find time to “do it all?” You can’t. Sorry, it’s just not going to happen. As much as we’d love to truly do it all, you can’t. Whether your work is as a stay-at-home mom or you work outside the home, none of us can do it all. For me,  the task of having a job regularly makes the idea of any level of balance feel absolutely unattainable, and I know that I’m not the only one that feels that. As a full-time, work from home mom, I so often feel like I can’t escape either of my jobs, and from time to time, it’s hard to feel like I have my head above water.

Despite all of those feelings, I do think a semblance of balance is manageable, it just means being truly intentional with your time, putting a few systems into place and being able to accept that you can’t have it all, but you can have your sanity and some peace. We have a lot of working moms on our team, some work from home, some in an office, others travel a lot. All have wise words on how they make it work, and why, though it’s unavoidable at times, you need to let go of the mom guilt. Read on below.
