Let’s celebrate our differences!

Stages Theatre Company is excited to bring back by popular demand Spookley the Square Pumpkin! The heartfelt and captivating musical delivers a message of tolerance and kindness in a FUN, accessible format that is easily grasped by young people.

Spookley the Square Pumpkin is a square pumpkin who lives in a round pumpkin world and is teased by the other pumpkins because of his odd shape. His new friends – three hilarious spiders named Edgar, Allan and Poe – try to convince Spookley that square or not, he has a right to be the Pick of the Patch on Halloween.  Although Spookley initially faces ridicule from his fellow patch-mates, he goes on to save the day during a terrible storm. As a result, all the pumpkins in the patch learn that it is the thing that makes you different that makes you special.

Directed by Cody R. Braudt, the musical tale with charming characters contains a message of accepting one another despite our differences. It teaches us a powerful lesson that community grows over time through action and support. As others embrace Spookley for who he is, we find that our community is whole because our differences are celebrated. Spookley – the Official Spokes Pumpkin for National Bullying Prevention Month as recognized by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center – teaches us that there are times when it is better to be square.

Based on the book by Joe Troiano with toe-tapping musical numbers by Jeff Zahn, this imaginative puppetry extravaganza sprouts into Stages Theatre Company’s Hopkins Jaycee Studio now through October 27th, 2019.

Perfect for the Halloween season, this is the spook-tacular Theatre for Young Audiences Production about everyone’s favorite square pumpkin!
