There’s always something to do in the Twin Cities! We’ve worked to help you keep your sanity by bringing these October activities all together in one easy guide so you don’t miss a thing! We’ll update with new additions as they come.

October 5: Forever Wild Family Friday: Twilight Hike | 7:00-8:30pm Head to Lebanon Hills for family fun on the first Friday of every month with outdoor park activities and s’mores. Take a walk in the woods at dusk on a self-guided scavenger hunt. Bring a headlamp or flashlight. All ages.

October 6: Celebrate the Harvest – Gale Wood Farms | 9:30am-3:30pm Watch as border collies and their handlers showcase their skills in the Star of the North Sheepherding Trial, and see which 1,000+ pound pumpkins top the scales at the Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off. Experience sheep shearing, walk a llama and meet other working animals. Check out professional chef demos, try your hand at a wool craft and explore the farm and gardens on a wagon ride. Food concessions available. Drop in anytime. 

October 6: Fall Frenzy at Lakefront Park | 10:00am-12:00pm Join the City of Prior Lake for their annual fall festival, featuring a kids pedal tractor pull, free kettle korn, pumpkin painting, pumpkin bowling, inflatables and live music by Radio Active. A food truck will be on site selling concessions, please bring cash. FREE. 

October 6: Fostering is Love Walk | 11:00am-7:00pm The 42nd Annual Corn Feast is coming back to Valleyfair this fall as one of the parks longest-standing traditions. There will be over 30,000 lbs of FREE corn at the park for all guests to indulge in (while supplies last). All the corn combinations you can imagine making this event a one-of-a-kind food festival, as well as exhilarating corn eating competitions every day. There will also be live music, lip-syncing battles, games, activities, and challenges all day long.

October 6: Home Depot Kids Workshop | 9:00am-12:00pm Celebrate National Fire Safety Month in our hands-on workshop where you and your child can build a model fireboat to put out shoreline or shipboard fires and transport emergency personnel and rescue workers. Once your firefighting vessel construction is complete, you and your hero can decorate it with paint and stickers and give it a name like the historically famous fireboats that precede your new firefighting craft. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron, and pin. FREE.

October 6-7: Afton Apple Orchard Apple Fest | Times Vary You and your family can enjoy an old-fashioned hayride, a petting farm, cider pressing demonstrations and so much more!

October 6-7: Indigenous Peoples Day Festival | Times Vary The festival will provide the public with education about American Indian history, culture, and contemporary experiences through the arts. Workshops will encourage artists to interact with attendees to create a broader understanding of Native communities.

October 6-7: Rivertown Fall Art Festival | Varies This event will feature beautiful artwork ranging from custom-made jewelry, hand-thrown pottery & hand-blown glass, to gorgeous paintings and photographs and lovely fiber work, including artists from around the Midwest, live music, a beer/wine tent and a wonderful selection of food vendors. The stage will be located in the center of the park overlooking the beautiful St. Croix River.

October 7: Stillwater Historic Home Tour | 12:00-5:00pm Once a year a selection of distinguished properties, including private homes and bed & breakfasts, open their doors for the Stillwater Historic Homes Tour. Peek inside ten grand homes and revel in the elegance of Victorian architecture, details, and ambiance. This event directly supports the Washington County Historical Society. 

October 7: Sesame Street Live!  | Times Vary Jump to the beat with your friends on Sesame Street! Introducing an all-new, interactive show that unfolds on one of the world’s most famous streets at the funniest, furriest party in the neighborhood.

October 12-13: Charlift Rides | Times Vary Ride a chairlift to the top of Mount Gilboa and enjoy the picturesque view from one of the highest elevations in Hennepin County. Look at the Minneapolis skyline through a spotting scope, meet a live raptor, and play lawn games. At sunset, listen to live folk music from Northern Aire, make s’mores by a campfire, and walk down a lantern-lit trail to the bottom of the hill. Food and beverages available for purchase.

October 12-14: Saint Paul Art Crawl | Times Vary 

October 12: Family Oktoberfest | 5:30-7:30pm All ages will enjoy our community Oktoberfest! Enjoy free German food, samples from Excelsior brewing, German Polka music, kids crafts, a photobooth, and wine tasting. All free for the entire family. Everyone is German tonight!

October 13: Halloween Carnival | 2:30-4:30pm Hike along a trail at Hyland Lake Park Reserve to meet animal puppets, play games, and hunt for dinosaur eggs. Arrive in costume and bring a bag for goodies. Children 17 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

October 13: Burnsville Family Fest | 10:00am-5:00pm Annual event will include free kids inflatables, carnival games, face painting, BVFD and BVPD trucks and cars, CPR demos, cupcake decorating, giveaways, main stage entertainment, food, and valuable information and resources for families.

October 13: Twin Cities Book Festival | 10:00am-5:00pm The single-day TCBF will feature hundreds of exhibitors, dozens of presenting authors from near and far, special children’s programming and endless curiosities for all ages, all in a massive celebration of our vibrant Minnesota literary culture.

October 13: Kidz Bop Live | 5:00-9:00pm Sing and dance with your kiddos this October at Kidz Bop Live 2018!

October 13: Leaf Fest | 12:00-4:00pm Join us for classic Fall family fun at Caponi Art Park’s Leaf Fest! This year we are looking forward to a variety of family favorites mixing art and nature in what is sure to be a memorable afternoon!

October 13: Fall on the Farm | 12:00-3:00pm It’s harvest time on the farm at Eidem Homestead! There’s plenty of fun to be had harvesting the garden, pressing cider, cooking fall goodies in the kitchen, hayrides, and more. Experience what it meant to “put up” for the winter.

October 13: Pumpkins in the Park | 4:00-6:00pm The Shakopee Chamber presents Pumpkins in the Park, a non-scary Halloween celebration every year. Children will enjoy a Trick-or-Treat Trail, face painting, jump houses, fun photos, ghoulish games, refreshments, plus they get to choose their very own pumpkin from the Pick-A-Pumpkin Patch. Children will also get to meet firefighters of the Shakopee Fire Department.

October 13: Maker Fair Minnesota | 9:00am-4:00pm This event features a large all-handcrafted fair showcasing artisans selling everything from knitting to stained glass, upcycled furniture to soap, jewelry to pottery, home décor to clothing. Meet the makers and start your holiday shopping by buying local, one of a kind creations.

October 13: Pumpkin Derby | 11:00am-3:00pm Gear up and give your pumpkin the thrill ride of its life at Sunnyside Gardens. For starters, you need a pumpkin and dose of creativity to get that thing rolling on wheels. Name your pumpkin, give it a look that is unique to you… a solid personality that is a reflection of your innermost pumpkin speed demon. Get ready to roll your creation on the Sunnyside derby ramp.

October 13-14: Stillwater Harvest Fest | 10:00am-6:00pm Chili cook-off, microbrew tasting, giant pumpkin weigh-off, pumpkin regatta, live music, kids costume parade, seasonal food vendors, kids pumpkin pull, face painting, pie eating contest, and more!

October 13-14:  Farmer Ken and Jan’s Pumpkin Patch | 12:30-4:00pm Take a trolley ride and bring home a Halloween pumpkin. Riders get off the car at the “pumpkin patch” where they can search for just the right pumpkin.

October 13-14: Goosebumps 2 Party | 10:00am-12:00pm Celebrate the opening weekend of the new “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” movie with free family parties at Marcus Theatres! Partygoers can enjoy a variety of crafts including make-and-take cotton ball ghosts and candy corn, coloring stations, prizes, snacks and more. Film admission sold separately. While supplies last, moviegoers will also receive a complimentary gift with purchase

October 13-14: Red Wing Arts Fall Festival | Times Vary Visit beautiful Red Wing at the peak of fall color and enjoy over 100 fine artists and craft vendors, food trucks, music and more! 

October 13-14: Apfelfest | Times Vary Discover Minnesota’s deep German roots and explore the cultural influence of our state’s largest ethnic group. Examine the forces behind the large waves of German immigration in the 1800s, and discover their influence on the history of Minnesota apfels (German for apples). Enter through the west entrance. Drop-in anytime; last entry at 4 PM.

October 14: Rosedale Center Fall Fun Fest | 12:00-2:00pm Head to Rosedale for a free, fun, fall event featuring live music by The Bazillions, face painting, dining and shopping offers, and a large prize drawing! All the fun will take place at the Rosedale Center in the lower east court.

October 18: Story Time with Cinderella | 10:00-11:00am Join Pretty Awesome Appearances at Burnsville Center’s Play Area for a story time and treats with Cinderella! Free.

October 18-21: Harvest Days – Oliver Kelley Farm | 10:00am-5:00pm Experience the last days of harvest in a festive work atmosphere on the historic Kelley Farm. Visitors can help finish up field work, harvest garden produce, and store it in the root cellar. Then finish up the last batches of pickles, make corn husk dolls, or join in a corn husking or quilting bee. Visitors at the Farm Lab can help harvest the last of the garden produce and see demonstrations of modern preservation techniques, such as canning, freezing and dehydrating, in the Learning Kitc

October 19: Flick ‘n’ Float | 6:00-8:00pm Swim and watch “Coco” with friends in the recreation pool! The Eden Prairie Community Center provides the flick and the floats. Children younger than 7 must be accompanied by an adult in the water. Children 8–11 need to have a guardian present at the Community Center.

October 19: Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt | 7:00-8:30pm Pumpkins are hiding and waiting to be found at Aquatore Park! Children along with their parents, can search the grounds for one pumpkin of their choice, celebrate by dancing under the stars with our family deejay, make a S’more and play glow games! Fee includes a treat bag, one pumpkin, one craft, and refreshments. Come in a costume for our costume contest and bring a flashlight! Registration is required.

October 20: Pumpkin Night | 6:00-10:00pm Enchanted trails, costumed characters, fire dancers, DJ with dancing music, 1,000 glowing pumpkins, bonfire, bingo, and stage entertainment.

 October 21: Wargo Fall Festival | 2:00-4:00pm Join the fun as we celebrate fall at Wargo Nature Center! We’ll crank up the cider press, play pioneer games, and have self-guided nature activities available for you and your family.

October 21: Slice of the Twin Cities | 1:00-5:00pm Join Minnesota Monthly for the 3rd annual Slice of the Twin Cities, where local pizzerias compete to be named the “Best Slice,” by our Food Editors! Enjoy a fall day out with activities for the whole family, live music, fresh bites, and some of the best pizza around! 

October 21: Villains Halloween Ball | 1:00-4:00pm Guests will enjoy a Halloween-themed dessert and appetizer buffet, DJ-led dance with award-winning Adagio Djay Entertainment, character performances, interactions and photo ops, Royal Dance Lesson and other character-led activities, costume parade, take-home treats, and more. Halloween costumes and/or royal ball attire for all ages is welcome. 

October 26: Little Goblins Costume Party | 6:30-8:00pm Ghosts, goblins and more! Join us in your favorite costume for a night of fun! We will have a variety of themed carnival games and crafts. Refreshments will be provided and you can even take a photo with our special photo backdrop. Wargo Nature Center staff will be leading a flashlight hike and a look at the stars. Don’t forget your camera! 

October 27:  Pumpkin Fest | 12:00-3:00pm Free petting zoo and activities. Blue Nose Coffee will be here providing free coffee and hot chocolate.

October 27: Marcus Theatres Wonder Showing | 10:00am The Marcus Oakdale and Southbridge Crossing (Shakopee) Cinemas invite the community to see the inspiring family film, “Wonder,” while supporting the Greater Twin Cities United Way. In recognition of National Bullying Prevention Month, 100 percent of ticket sales will be donated to anti-bullying initiatives offered by the United Way. As a thank you, attendees will receive free popcorn and more!

October 27: Cobwebs and Caches | 5:00-8:00pm Use a GPS unit to find hidden jack-o-latern caches and collect Halloween trinkits. Bring your own GPS unit or borrow one of ours. Costumes encouraged.

October 27: Frankenstein 200 | 11:00am-2:00pm Join SMM as they celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein! Engage in fun hands-on activities that explore Frankenstein’s legacy in science and technology in the 21st century. Participants will use their imaginations as they explore what it means to be a responsible innovator.

October 6, 13, 20, & 27: Eagan Parkrun | 9:00am This free weekly timed 5K event takes place at Thomas Lake Park.

October 5-7: Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend | Times Vary The TC 10K, presented by PNC Bank takes place at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul and previews the last three miles of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon course down tree-lined, historic Summit Avenue. Participants receive a short-sleeve Brooks Running® technical shirt, exclusive 2018 TC 10K finisher’s medal, a special participant gift, and a post-race celebration on the Capitol lawn. Stay and enjoy activities for the whole family until noon.

October 6: Fostering is Love Walk | 8:00am-2:00pm This family-friendly event at Mall of America celebrates foster & adoptive families and raises awareness for the need for more foster parents. Day begins with an indoor walk, celebration ceremony with Joe Schmit (KSTP), Art Show of MN foster kids, Foster/Adoptive Parent Information Fair, Book Signing: TJ Menn: Faith to Foster, Cards of Love:create inspirational card for foster child plus:music, games, prizes, giveaways and more.

October 13: Autumn Woods Classic | 8:30am Autumn Woods Classic is an annual tradition that everyone would like s’more of! Courses travel over the rolling hills of Elm Creek Park Reserve for the 10K Graham Cracker Run and 5K Chocolate Walk/Run. Activities for kids include the 1K Mini-marshmallow Fun Run, games and crafts by Eastman Nature Center, and DJ music.

October 13: BT5K | 9:00am BT5K Twin Cities is part of the American Brain Tumor Association’s (ABTA) signature Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5K series. Currently, more than 700,000 people in the U.S. are living with a brain tumor diagnosis. Your support allows the ABTA to fund desperately needed brain tumor research, patient programs and support services.

October 14: Unleash the SHE 5K & 10K | 9:00am There is no test for ovarian cancer, the deadliest of all gynecologic cancers. This year alone, more than 400 Minnesota women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer, which is all too often diagnosed at a late stage. Join us to help others with the fight and UNLEASH your SHE and show us your Strength, Health andEmpowerment.

October 20: Hot Cider Hustle | 8:30am This event features a half marathon & 5K on Saturday and a 5K only on Sunday.

October 27: Monster Dash | 8:30 Midwest’s largest Halloween Road Race

October 27: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K | 8:00am You step out you notice the people around you admiring your group’s coordinated “Avengers-in-bathing-suits” costumes and your on-point Hulk-green body paint. In the festival, people are already riding the mechanical bull and playing beach volleyball (Rugged Maniac is definitely more than just a mud run), but you’re more interested in the stein-hoisting contest on the main stage.  You make a note to sign up for that and the pie-eating contest after you run.   You see obstacles in the distance – mud-covered people jumping over fire, bouncing on trampolines, rocketing down a huge water slide – and your surging excitement confirms what you already knew: Today is going to be awesome!

October 27: Minneapolis Halloween Half Marathon | 8:30am Round up your friends and take on the MN Run Relay!  This 50-mile relay run highlights a handful of regional trails and regional parks of the Twin Cities!  Create your team of 2 to 8 people for this one-day event that starts and finishes at the scenic Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis.

October 11-13: Christ the King Bloomington Kid’s Sale | Times Vary Kid’s clothing (birth – teen), maternity, toys, books, shoes, furniture, strollers, pack n plays, infant and toddler activity items, room decor, feeding/changing items, blankets and more! No admission fee. October 12-14: Just Between Friends Sale – Eden Prairie | Times Vary

October 27-28: Munchkin Markets – Stillwater/Woodbury | Times Vary Join over 200 families to sell your gently used baby and kid’s items at Blaine’s premier children’s consignment sale and earn 65-80% of the selling price.  Shoppers will find thousands of pre-loved and new baby and children’s items including clothing (sizes preemie to big kid 14), high chairs, strollers, cribs and nursery furniture, shoes, books, DVDs, and of course toys all at prices 40-90% off retail!  A shopping event parents don’t want to miss! Public shopping hours are 9-4 on Saturday and 9-2 on Sunday.  Many items will be 1/2 price on Sunday. 

Now-October 13: Oktoberfest | Weekends. Gastofs is a Bavarian bar and eatery in Northeast Minneapolis that pitches a massive tent and brings in the picnic tables for a celebration of Germany. They’ll have traditional German beer like Hacker Pschorr, Paulaner, Spaten and Warsteiner. Food options include brats, smoked pork chops, BBQ ribs, German potato salad, sauerkraut, soft pretzels, and apfelstrudel. There will be live polka music and dancing, too. No cover charge. Bring your own beer mug or buy one of their 1/2 liter mugs

October 5-6: Twin Cities Oktoberfest | Times Vary This two-day event features Summit Brewing Company’s Oktoberfest brew and a selection of other Summit beers, wines and cider, traditional German food, live music and entertainment, great people watching, festival games, shopping and more.

October 5-6 and 12-13: New Ulm Oktoberfest | Times Vary If you can’t make it to Germany for Oktoberfest this year, don’t fear! Join the party in New Ulm, Minnesota for the next best thing! New Ulm’s Oktoberfest has been voted one of the best Oktoberfest celebrations in the United States! Feat on German food, catch a few live music shows, tour Schell’s brewery, get your grape stomp on at Morgan Creek Vineyards, and watch the parades. 

October 13: Winefest | 12:00-4:00pm Join Mallards for their annual River Valley Wine Fest! Participate in wine tasting and grape stomping. More than 100 wines from around the world. 

October 13: Surlyfest | 10:00am-5:00pm Games, steins, music from Jake Rudh and Transmission, and German-inspired fare from the Beer Hall and Surly Pizza Upstairs. At 2 pm, the doors to Festival Field will open, with an array of music, food trucks, games, inflatables, steins, a frankly ridiculous amount of beer, and all of it headlined by The Hold Steady.

October 13-14: Oktober Wine Fest | Times Vary Enjoy an afternoon of beautiful fall colors in the Saint Croix Valley paired with German fun at Chateau St Croix Winery! They will have live music, German food, and a few rounds of hammerschlagen. Local Oktoberfest Beer from Oliphant and Lift Bridge will also be available. Wine Tasting including Federweisser.

October 20: Nordeast Big River Brew Fest  | 1:00-4:00pm Come sample beer, snack on great food, listen to live music, drink from a free tasting mug, and be part of the craft brew community at this East Side event. 

American Sign Language Interpretive Day at Como Zoo October 3 | 10:30am American Sign Language Interpretive Day takes place on the first Wednesday of every month Como will have an American Sign Language interpreter on-site interpreting our public Zoo and Conservatory talks. These ten-minute talks will be interpreted between the hours of 10:30AM-1:15PM.

Charlotte’s Web at Stages Theatre October 4 & 13 | Times Vary It’s not often that someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer.” We kick off the celebration of our 35th anniversary season with an all-time audience favorite. The classic story of friendship, based on the book by E.B. White, will warm hearts young and old as it charms its way onto our main stage this fall. Down on the Zuckerman Farm, Wilbur, an irresistible young pig is determined to avoid the butcher. With the help of his friends (especially the magnificent spider, Charlotte) Wilbur is not only safe, but learns that true friends live in our hearts forever. This 60-minute adaptation of the novel, named one of the best American children’s books of the past two hundred years, will enchant audiences of all ages.

Sensory Friendly Mornings October 6 | 7:00-10:00pm Head to the Como Zoo for an inclusive experience designed for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. There will be designated quiet spaces, sensory story time, and other adjustments that will make this time sensory friendly.

Last Stop on Market Street at Children’s Theatre October 18 | 7:00pm Six-year-old CJ is (reluctantly) staying with his (extremely over-the-top) Nana, in a world considerably different from the one he’s used to (his phone and tablet). The disagreeable (and let’s just admit it, whiny) child is dragged on a bus ride that’s loud and gritty and weird. Guided by his veritable force-of-nature Nana, CJ travels a little closer to his roots and sees that things are not always what they seem. This is one hip-hop, eclectic, heart-thumpin’, toe-tappin’ joy ride.

Sensory-Friendly Fire Department Open House October 27 | 9:30-11:00am and 11:30am-1:00pm The Minnetonka Fire Department is hosting an open house for families who have children with special needs. It is being provided to families with children who have autism and other sensory disorders along with physical disabilities which can make attending heavily crowded events difficult. The vehicles will be “sensory friendly”, meaning no lights/no sirens. We will have fire trucks, an ambulance and a police squad on display. Sparky will be there and free cookies will be served. We will have our 18 foot fire truck slide set up for kids to play on. There will also be a quiet room set aside with coloring and an escape planning sheet for kids to create with their parents. AuSM – the Autism Society of Minnesota, will be hosting a booth with resources for parents including information on free identification beacons.

Sensory Sundays at Urban Air Adventure Park  | Select Sundays An event specifically designed for children with Autism and special needs to enjoy time at the park without loud music, flashing lights and to have a lot of fun! See calendar for timing and details.

Sensory Jump Night @ Pump It Up Third Tuesday of Every Month | 6:00-8:00pm During this evening event, the play areas are reserved for kids on the autism spectrum and their families. Kids have a great time meeting new friends. Jump, slide and play with sensory-friendly games in a safe and controlled atmosphere.

Sensory-Friendly Story Time Second Thursday of Every Month | 9:30am Story Time will take place before the store opens to the general public. No music until after the store opens…except for the songs we’ll sing together! Small fidget objects will be available for children to hold if they choose. There will be a clear schedule for story time with visual cues. As with all of our storytimes, this is a no judgment zone! We all have unique needs and ways of expressing ourselves, and we at Wild Rumpus welcome and celebrate those differences.

Sensory-Friendly Saturdays at Select Dakota County Libraries | 10:30am Explore books, music, movement and play in a sensory-friendly setting that welcomes children ages 3–8 of all abilities including those who have difficulty in large groups, are on the autism spectrum or are sensitive to sensory overload. One registration required per family. An adult must accompany each registered child. Siblings welcome.

TPT Second Saturdays Sensory-Friendly Hour | 12:00-1:00pm Each month TPT opens up our studios in Lowertown St. Paul for a morning of PBS Kids cartoons on the big screen, meet & greets with PBS Kids characters like Daniel Tiger, Sid the Science Kid, and Buddy the Dinosaur, and fun activities like instrument making and carnival games. If that weren’t enough, the SciGirls squad are always on hand with all sorts of STEM-related games and activities to educate your child.

Sensory-Friendly AMC Movies Second and Fourth Saturday of Every Month | Times Vary AMC is proud to partner with the Autism Society to offer unique movie showings where we turn the lights up, and turn the sound down so you can get up, dance, walk, shout or sing! Our Sensory Friendly Film program is available on the second and fourth Saturday (family-friendly) and Tuesday evenings (mature audiences) of every month.

Sensory-Friendly Movies at Marcus Theatre Select Saturdays | 10:30am We understand that sometimes it is difficult or uncomfortable for families with special needs children to attend movies together. Marcus Theatre’s Reel Movies for Reel Needs is a specially designed program to serve families with special needs such as autism or other challenges, who seldom attend movies. Reel Movies for Real Needs creates a welcoming and comfortable environment – lower sound, lights up – where families with children who need accommodations will be able to share the experience of seeing family-friendly films at a theatre. A select first run movie is featured one Saturday each month at a convenient 10:30 AM showtime. 

Story Time Trolley in Stillwater Now-October 27 | Times Vary This event for families includes a short ride on the trolley with an author or storyteller! Your $5 registration includes a token to board the trolley, a discount for 20% off a children’s book the day of the event and a snack after your ride.

Aamodts Apple Farm Fall Fun Now-October 31 | Times Vary Aamodt’s Apple Farm Peak Fall Season Activities may include hay wagon rides, Honeycrisp express kids train, hay bale maze, apple picking, apple goods shop in apple barn, and John Deere tractor trikes. Varies based on harvest season.

The disagreeable (and let’s just admit it, whiny) child is dragged on a bus ride that’s loud and gritty and weird. Guided by his veritable force-of-nature Nana, CJ travels a little closer to his roots and sees that things are not always what they seem. This is one hip-hop, eclectic, heart-thumpin’, toe-tappin’ joy ride.

Charlotte’s Web at Stages Theatre Now-October 21 | Times Vary It’s not often that someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer.” We kick off the celebration of our 35th anniversary season with an all-time audience favorite. The classic story of friendship, based on the book by E.B. White, will warm hearts young and old as it charms its way onto our main stage this fall. Down on the Zuckerman Farm, Wilbur, an irresistible young pig is determined to avoid the butcher. With the help of his friends (especially the magnificent spider, Charlotte) Wilbur is not only safe, but learns that true friends live in our hearts forever. This 60-minute adaptation of the novel, named one of the best American children’s books of the past two hundred years, will enchant audiences of all ages.

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular October 4-31 | Times Vary An enchanted forest, nestled in the heart of the Zoo, plays host to this strolling exhibit. The trail features over 5,000 illuminated pumpkins of all different sizes, shapes, and faces creatively carved and displayed from ground to tree-top. A variety of musical vignettes and fog make the perfect backdrop for a special date night or family-friendly fall outing.

Illumination Family Film Festival October 26-November 1 | Times Vary Animated favorites from the studio that brought us the Minions return to the big screen! The Illumination Family Film Festival will feature four films including “Sing,” “Secret Life of Pets,” “Despicable Me” and “Lorax” every day from Friday, October 26through Thursday, November 1 at Marcus Theatres. Best of all, admission is just $5 per person. 

Pre K Program at The Works Museum Select Mondays | 9:00am-12:00pm Pre K Mondays feature special activities just for kids ages 3 to 5 and their adult companions. Kids are natural engineers – experience the amazing fun of hands-on engineering together! Encourage your Pre K student to explore his or her curiosity and design, build, and create.

Ballet Tuesdays at the Landmark 2nd Tuesday of every month | 12:00pm The Saint Paul Ballet performs excerpts from the company repertoire each year, highlighting events for their coming season. They are held the second Tuesday of the month at noon from October through May. FREE.

Tots & Trains at Minnesota Transportation Museum 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month | 10am-12pm Explore the Jackson Street Roundhouse & Museum with your little one. Check out their open play area full of train tables. Create a themed craft to take home. Cuddle up and listen to a train-themed story read by one of the museum’s passionate volunteers. Snacks for the kids and coffee for the parents are provided.

Kids at the Castle: Third Friday Playdates (American Swedish Institute) In the hour before the museum opens, join ASI for visual play, storytelling, music, movement and crafts inspired by ASI’s current exhibits- activities that will encourage creative minds and active hands. Recommended for ages 2-5. $5 per family. Registration not required; check in at the Information Desk by 11 a.m. on the day of the program. Adult accompaniment required.
