Spring is on the horizon… and we are so excited about it! We hope you’ll use this guide to get out and start savoring the season! We’ll update with new additions as they come.

March 1: Baby and Me Story Time @ Select Barnes and Noble Locations | 11:00am Join your nearest Barnes and Noble for storytime and activities each Sunday at 11am.

March 2: Preschool Drop Off: Kits & Cubs | 10:00am-12:00pm Drop off your kids to explore nature through stories, play, art, songs, games and hikes at Eastman Nature Center. Snack included. Reservations required by the Thursday prior. For 4-5 year olds. $12.50 per child.

March 3: Toddler Tuesday: Legacy Toys | 10:00am-12:00pm “Build It” author Laura Seitz Danielsen whisks the kiddos off on a whirlwind tour about an active construction site, in a fun rhyming story. Anyone who has passed a construction site + wondered about the buzz of activity, will find answers in this delightful story. After the story meet the Minnesota based author, create your own tool belt or dump truck craft + check out other construction related activities.

March 6: Minnesota Monthly Food and Wine Experience | 6:30-9:00pm An intimate, high-end tasting of fine red, white, rose and sparkling wine with gourmet bites and live music. Wines featured at the event retail at $20 or higher and showcase the best from vineyards across the globe.

March 6: Chaska Community Center Carnival | 5:30-7:30pm The CCC is kicking-off the new spring season. You will be able to play all your favorite carnival games, eat a snack, and jump in the inflatable jumper. All ages welcome. Free!

March 6: Dive-In Movie | 7:00-9:45pm Join your friends and family at the Tropics Indoor Waterpark for a Dive-In Movie Night! Guests can relax on giant sea creatures or lounge on pool-side chairs while watching a family-friendly movie. No need to register; the purchase of a daily pass the day of the movie is your ticket.

March 6: Forever Wild Family Friday: Game Night | 7:00-8:30pm Join the family fun on the first Friday of every month with park activities and s’mores. A night for family fun – come try out some of  nature themed board games or bring one of your favorites to share. All ages. Free!

March 7: Home Depot Kids Workshop | 9:00am-12:00pm Set out on an adventure with your child in this Binoculars Workshop. Kids develop hands-on skills by gluing, hammering and more. With help from parents and Store Associates, your child will create their own pair of binoculars to take home. All Kids Workshop attendees must be accompanied by a parent or adult at all times. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron and a commemorative pin while supplies last.

March 7: Paper Bag Princess Party! | 9:30-10:30am Hear ye, hear ye, all dragons, princesses, and princes! In honor of the first ever Paper Bag Princess Day, Red Balloon Bookshop in St. Paul is hosting a storytime celebration featuring one of our long-time favorite picture books: The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch. Join Storyteller Angela for an interactive story followed by a scavenger hunt and kid-friendly crafts! All are welcome at this interactive storytime party, which will be best appreciated by kids and adults ages 2 and up.

March 7: Chaska Figure Skating Club 2020 Ice Show | Times Vary Chaska Figure Skating Club and Chaska Skate School are teaming up once again to host the annual Ice Show, “Neverland ~ Fantasy On Ice”. The Ice Show is a presentation of the figure skating club and skate school, showcasing the talents of their many skaters. The show is suitable for all ages. Tickets are available now for purchase at the Chaska Community Center front desk and at the door.

March 7: Wild Art: Clay Garden Art | 9:00-11:00am Join instructors from Artistry to create clay garden art pieces using basic hand building techniques. Lanterns, animal sculptures, toad houses and bird feeders are all options. Equipment provided. Projects picked up 2 weeks after class. A Minnesota Legacy program. Ages: 16 and older.

March 8: Rock the Cradle 2020 | 11:00am The Current’s annual free, no-ticket-required Rock the Cradle event for kids and their grownups to explore music, art and culture returns Sunday, March 8 to the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Enjoy annual favorites such as the Kids’ Disco Dance Party with Twinkle the mascot, Pop Up Story Time with The Current’s DJs, live music from The Jolly Pops, and more. Find sponsor activities spread throughout the museum, including singalongs and stories in the Amazing Kid Zone from Children’s Minnesota, an art activity for Mia’s Family Day, Classical Kids Storytime and lots more. Fuel up with free snacks from GoGo squeeZ and get a caffeine boost from Peace Coffee. Rock the Cradle is perfect for kids up to age 8.

March 8: The Puppet Adventures of Ned the Naturalist | 1:00-3:00pm Follow Ned the Nerdy Naturalist as he saves nature from Trasher the Trash Can. Try a take-home art activity after the show inspired by art work currently in the gallery or on the trail. Explore and find art work all around Silverwood. Puppet show begins promptly at 1PM and is performed by youth volunteers. Free. All ages!

March 9: Ladies Bouldering Night | 6:00-8:00pm Come one come many to the all women, ONLY women, evening of bouldering in the Cave! Shannon, member of the American Alpine Club, will be on hand to answer questions and help provide a fun and relaxing atmosphere. All abilities welcome from the, “I’ve never done this before”, to those who want to set routes, and everyone in-between. All climbers must have a completed liability waiver on file at Midwest Mountaineering. Liability waivers expire at the end of the calendar year and must be re-submitted every year. Minimum age 15. Climbing shoe rental is $3.

March 14: LuckyPalooza | 2:00-11:00pm Start your St. Patrick’s Week off right at LuckyPalooza on West 7th! This two-block street party is full of action including three tent parties at Burger Moe’s, Cossetta’s and Patrick McGovern’s, outdoor food stands, bars and DJs! The action starts at 2 p.m. and goes until 11 p.m. in the street and even later in the tents. Then the party moves indoors at bars and restaurants within the two blocks and continues until bar close.

March 12-15: Disney on Ice: Road Trip Adventures | Times Vary Exciting twists and turns await as Mickey, Minnie — and you — embark on a wild ride to your favorite Disney destinations. See the world from the rooftops of London, travel to the sun-soaked Motunui, set off on a safari to the Pride Lands and play at a larger-than-life carnival with Woody and Forky. A fun-filled getaway jam-packed with unexpected hijinks and up-close character interactions!

March 17: Minneapolis St. Patrick’s Day Parade | 6:30pm Head to Nicollet Mall in Downtown Minneapolis to watch the 52nd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade!

March 17: St. Paul St. Patrick’s Day Parade | 12:00pm Visit downtown St. Paul for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade! It is a celebration of St. Paul’s Irish heritage and the many Irish clans that still reside in the area today.

March 20: Kids at the Castle: Mini Makers | 9:00-10:00am Celebrate the power of imagination during this month’s morning playdate! Children and their grown-ups will embark on an adventure of invention and curiosity as we create, explore and learn together. Harness your creativity as we answer the question, “what do you do with an idea?” and discover the limitless potential of a good box.

March 20: Neighbor Day  | 4:00-7:00pm You’re invited to the 6th annual Neighbor Day event! Celebrate the legacy of Fred Rogers by joining your city-wide neighbors for an evening of fun. Enjoy hands-on activities, youth performances, a community meal, the Metro State Dome (an inflatable planetarium), a bouncy house, inflatable obstacle course and more!

March 20-22: Great Waters Fly Fishing Expo | Times Vary The Great Waters Fly Fishing Expo is a celebration of fly fishing, its environs and the people who share in its majesty!

March 21: World Down Syndrome Day Celebration | 1:00-4:00pm Come party at DSAMN’s FREE event at the Mall of America!  Enjoy dancing, face painting, crafts, and snacks with friends from our amazing community.

March 21: Indoor Block Party for Kids and Adults | 10:00am-1:00pm Is winter starting to get you down? Then mark your calendars because our Indoor Block Party is right around the corner! This popular community event is the perfect escape from winter, thanks to its enrichment opportunities for adults and indoor entertainment for the kids. Join us for food, fun, crafts, and more!

March 21-22: Double Dare Challenge @ MOA | 1:00pm & 4:00pm On your mark, get set, GO! It’s time for the Double Dare Challenge at Nickelodeon Universe. Answer trivia, tackle physical challenges, navigate the super sloppy Double Dare obstacle course and get Slimed! With new fun games and ways to get slimed, get in the game…if you dare!

March 22: Family Concert: Star Wars and Beyond | 2:00pm John Williams’ thrilling Star Wars film music communicates drama on a grand scale—as do other great works, including Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance and Holst’s The Planets. Discover how Williams was inspired by classical composers during this relaxed concert experience for audiences of all ages and abilities, including individuals with autism or sensory sensitivities.

March 22: Sunday Free Community Yoga | 9:00am Classes blend movement with breathing and meditation practices that are designed to leave you feeling relaxed, strong and whole. Self-care and gratitude are at the core of the classes.

March 28: Bow Wow Film Fest | 7:00pm It’s the 5th Annual Bow Wow Film Festival! Come join us for this fun event to celebrate our beloved canine companions. Come laugh and cheer and maybe even tear up a bit as we marvel in all the ways these beloved furry creatures touch our lives!

March 28: Kids Kraft – Postcard Party! | 10:30-11:15am Have you ever sent a post card before? People have been using them to say “hello” for hundreds of years! See some post cards from Scott County history, and make your very own post cards. Stamps will be on hand so you can write a message and send it to someone you love! Finally, hear a story about mishaps in the mail.

March 28: Harlem Globetrotters | Times Vary The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters will bring their new “Pushing the Limits” World Tour to Target Center on Saturday, March 28 with two incredible live shows! The “Pushing the Limits” World Tour will up the ante and create even bigger moments and memories for Globetrotter fans, including a live world record attempt at each game. Don’t miss it!

March 28: Maple Syruping Festival | 10:00am Tap a tree, collect sap and watch it boil down. Sample the park’s natural sweetness with pancakes. Drop in anytime, all ages encouraged to attend.

March 29: Sugar Coated Floral Experience | All Day Shoppers are in for a ‘treat’ at this year’s Sugar Coated Floral Experience as they explore the sweeter side of spring, full of fabulous florals and oversized candy sculptures. This FREE, 15-day event, with gardens by Bachman’s, is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth! Photo opportunities abound at this blooming spring extravaganza with an extra sweet setting that would bring even the bees to their knees, including a 6-foot-tall gummy bear in a floral forest, and a 13-foot-high ring pop. Don’t forget to look up throughout the experience to spot the charming cotton candy clouds!

March 5-8: Just Between Friends Sale – Coon Rapids | Times Vary We provide a marketplace for you to buy and sell new and gently used children’s items! We anticipate 450+ families participating and thousands of shoppers finding bargains during the 4 day event.

March 28: Super Kids Sale | 9:00am-2:00pm Hosted by Northside Mothers of Multiples. $1 entry donation suggested. Open to the public. Everything from infant to tween! Books, clothing, shoes, swim suits, toys, nursery items, dress up, outdoor equipment, ride on toys and MUCH more! Bake sale items also available.

March 7, 14, 21, 28Eagan Parkrun | 9:00am This free weekly timed 5K event takes place at Thomas Lake Park.

March 14: Get Lucky 7K, 14K, and 21K (Half Marathon) | 7:00am All finishers get a medal and a head/neck warmer at finish! There is also a kids race for your little ones to enjoy!

March 14: Luck O’ the Lake 5K Fun Run | 9:00am Enjoy a scenic route along the shores of Lake Minnetonka. Finish up with a St. Paddy’s Day Celebration in Excelsior in the heated tent on Water Street!

March 21: Hot Dash 5K and 10 Mile | 8:45am Join the Hot Dash for a good ol’ Minnesotan time! The elevation climbs on the course gives even the heartiest of Minnesotans a challenge. All participants receive a Technical Moss Jersey Hoodie, finisher medal, and a serving of steamy hotdish and Minnesota-themed treats!

March 22: St. Patrick’s Irish Traditions 5K | 9:00am Run or walk around Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove, MN on USATF certified 5k course with family & friends then return to Claddagh Irish Pub & Restaurant for optional Irish breakfast, beer, cold and hot light beverages & More Irish Hospitality & Music!

March 28: 4th Annual Minnesota Endo March | 12:30pm In an effort to increase recognition and awareness the Minnesota Endo Warriors has moved the annual Minnesota Endo March from Minneapolis to the state capitol in St. Paul, MN. Register your friends, family, and of course yourself for what is sure to be the best year yet. We encourage you to create a personal fundraiser and start a fundraising team to help spread endometriosis awareness statewide. Top individual and team fundraisers will be recognized at the event!

Sensory Friendly Play at Urban Air Adventure Park  | Select days, see event calendar An event specifically designed for children with Autism and special needs to enjoy time at the park without loud music, flashing lights and to have a lot of fun! See calendar for timing and details.

Sensory Jump Night @ Pump It Up Third Tuesday of Every Month | During this evening event, the play areas are reserved for kids on the autism spectrum and their families. Kids have a great time meeting new friends. Jump, slide and play with sensory-friendly games in a safe and controlled atmosphere.

Sensory-Friendly Story Time Second Thursday of Every Month | 9:30am Story Time will take place before the store opens to the general public. No music until after the store opens…except for the songs we’ll sing together! Small fidget objects will be available for children to hold if they choose. There will be a clear schedule for story time with visual cues. As with all of our storytimes, this is a no judgment zone! We all have unique needs and ways of expressing ourselves, and we at Wild Rumpus welcome and celebrate those differences.

TPT Second Saturdays Sensory-Friendly Hour | Each month TPT opens up our studios in Lowertown St. Paul for a morning of PBS Kids cartoons on the big screen, meet & greets with PBS Kids characters like Daniel Tiger, Sid the Science Kid, and Buddy the Dinosaur, and fun activities like instrument making and carnival games. If that weren’t enough, the SciGirls squad are always on hand with all sorts of STEM-related games and activities to educate your child.

Sensory-Friendly AMC Movies Second and Fourth Saturday of Every Month | Times Vary AMC is proud to partner with the Autism Society to offer unique movie showings where we turn the lights up, and turn the sound down so you can get up, dance, walk, shout or sing! Our Sensory Friendly Film program is available on the second and fourth Saturday (family-friendly) and Tuesday evenings (mature audiences) of every month.

Sensory Sensitive Sundays at Chuck E. Cheese March 1 | 8:00am Chuck E. Cheese in Woodbury is proud to support families who have children with autism and other special needs. They offer a sensory-friendly experience on the first Sunday of every month, opening two hours before their normal opening time. Their Sensory Sensory events include a trained and caring staff that work to ensure each guest has a fun-filled visit. They realize that the Chuck E. experience can be very stimulating for any child, so our mission is to create an event that allows ALL kids to be a kid.

Sensory-Friendly Night at Cheap Skate March 3rd | 6:00pm Cheap Skate has a partnership with the Autism Society of Minnesota in creating a night a of family fun with a sensory friendly atmosphere every first Tuesday evening of each month from 6 pm to 9 pm! What does that mean? No flashing lights, no fog, no loud music. These skating and bouncing sessions are designed for those with special needs in mind. Wheelchairs are always welcomed, as well as parents walking on the skating floor to help.

Iron Hearted Violet at Stages Theater ASL Interpreted Performance March 21 | 10:00am “In most fairy tales, princesses are beautiful, dragons are terrifying, and stories are harmless. This isn’t most fairy tales.” When Princess Violet and her best friend Demetrius discover a forbidden book in a hidden room, they unknowingly release the evil Nybbas into their world. The two friends pair up with an ancient dragon to try and save their kingdom, but the wicked creature’s triumph or demise all depends on how the story is told. This enchanted tale by the Minneapolis-based, Newbery Winning author of The Girl Who Drank the Moon comes to life on our stage in an enthralling adventure about the power of stories to change the world.

Sensory-Friendly Movies at Marcus Theatre March 7 & 28 | 10:30am We understand that sometimes it is difficult or uncomfortable for families with special needs children to attend movies together. Marcus Theatre’s Reel Movies for Reel Needs is a specially designed program to serve families with special needs such as autism or other challenges, who seldom attend movies. Reel Movies for Real Needs creates a welcoming and comfortable environment – lower sound, lights up – where families with children who need accommodations will be able to share the experience of seeing family-friendly films at a theatre. A select first run movie is featured one Saturday each month at a convenient 10:30 AM showtime.

Toddler Tuesdays at MOA Tuesdays | 10:00am-12:00pm Toddler Tuesdays is a program that provides events, free entertainment, and discounts, especially for toddlers. Events include special character appearances, arts and crafts, story time and much more! FREE.

Storytime with Engineer Paul at Choo Choo Bob’s Train Store Tuesdays | 10:00am Engineer Paul hosts a storytime full of songs and smiles. Afterward, enjoy the morning exploring and playing with the various train sets and tables at this fun train store. FREE.

Wee Wednesdays at Midtown Global Market Wednesdays | 10:30am Wee Wednesdays showcase free educational programming, fun crafts, and great meal deals each Wednesday morning at Midtown Global Market!
 Dance with them, experience live puppet theater, learn to cook fun items together in the kitchen, and even pet live animals from the Como Zoo. FREE.

Tots & Trains at Minnesota Transportation Museum 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month | 10am-12pm Explore the Jackson Street Roundhouse & Museum with your little one. Check out their open play area full of train tables. Create a themed craft to take home. Cuddle up and listen to a train-themed story read by one of the museum’s passionate volunteers. Snacks for the kids and coffee for the parents are provided.

Kids at the Castle: Third Friday Playdates American Swedish Institute | 9:00 Mark your calendars for the third Friday (and selected Saturdays) of every month for this action-packed kids and family creative playtime. Join us for circle time, storytelling, crafts, visual play, music and movement in the Turnblad Mansion. Suggested for ages 2-5. Adults must accompany children.

Free First Saturdays at Walker Art Center 1st Saturday of every month | 10:00am-3:00pm Free First Saturdays feature free gallery admission on the first Saturday of every month, plus performances, games, art-making, and kid’s films from 10 am to 3 pm. Family friendly food options are available or bring something from home to snack on in the lounge or in the garden.

Free Crafts for Kids at Lakeshore Learning Saturdays | 11:00am-3:00pm Ages 3 and up. No reservations necessary.

MIA Family Day 2nd Sunday of every month | Times Vary On the second Sunday of every month, you’ll have a blast making art, going on artful adventures, meeting local musicians, dancers, and storytellers, and more at the Minnesota Institute of Art! FREE.

Three Rivers Park District: FREE Family Fun Days Sundays | 1-3pm Explore through hands-on activities that everyone can enjoy at their own pace. Drop in anytime. Held at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park.
