10 Ways You Know You’re Pregnant… Again.

I’m expecting our second child in just a few weeks (ACK!!) and have been getting so uncomfortable. Which is normal. But in comparing notes from my first full pregnancy, I’m convinced: subsequent pregnancies are really, really hard. It seems that everything is just bigger, more noticeable and more pronounced (everything – not just my tummy!). And with a toddler running around, the exhaustion is consuming. It’s hard, too, when you’re so uncomfortable but don’t want to sound like you’re complaining because you’re really, truly so grateful to have a healthy pregnancy and baby on the way. But you’re still so.uncomfortable.

So here’s my list of the things that remind me that this is not my first pregnancy. They’re a little tongue in cheek =) And please keep in mind: everyone’s pregnancies are vastly different. Your first may have been awful and your third a breeze. This list is only and completely based on my experience.

10 Ways You Know You're Pregnant Again | Twin Cities Moms Blog

You know you’re pregnant again when…

1) …you take a pregnancy test, call your partner, then put on maternity pants.

2) …you visit the bathroom even MORE than usual pregnant ladies do. It is not unusual to go, stand up, and sit down again.

3) …your pregnancy absolutely FLIES by. Like swoosh, baby’s here. And the diapers/changing table/bottles/clean onesies are not.

4) …every time you head upstairs, your toddler says, ‘Mommy potty.’ And they’re right – that’s where you’re headed.

5) …date nights are to Ikea for cheap cloth bins, a new changing pad, and maybe a toddler bed, which you then cram into the nursery that’s barely built for one, but by golly it will house two! =)

6) …you have trained your toddler(s) to bring you: Kleenex, bowls from the cupboard shelves nearest the floor, and their crackers.

7) …itty-bitty diapers have never looked so small.

8) …your older child(ren) has never looked so big.

9) …the shirts you wore towards the END of your previous pregnancy fit at 20 weeks this time.

10) …there is one little set of hands you actually don’t mind touching your belly. Because you made those hands too. =)

If you’ve been pregnant more than once, what would you add to the list?

I noticed that my tastes changed even more so with my second and third pregnancies. I’m not referring to cravings. I mean actual changes in the types of food i liked/disliked. With number two, i no longer could drink sweet tea. Still don’t really like it, and i loved it prior to pregnancy. I also suddenly started liking maple syrup, something i hated the taste of before i got pregnant with #2. Now i eat syrup on my pancakes AND my sausage. Weird.
